I just watched Grizzly Man about a guy who lived with bears studying them and protecting them from pochers and stuff. It was amazing. It really fuels the 'kevin wants to get away form everything' moods, but it was really cool. He would go live with them for about 3 or 4 months out of the year, for about 13 years. Didn't he die because he was MAULED AND EATEN BY THOSE VERY SAME BEARS?!

I am pretty sure he did and that there is an audio transcript of it floating around somewhere on the 'net...

Yeah, I just read about that. His girlfriend and him were both eaten by the bears and they ended up having to kill two bears to get to what was left of the bodies. Apparently his camera got turned on with the lens cap still on in the middle of their being killed so they have audio of them being mauled to death.

yes i was just going to say he died making that movie. i heard they do have the footage of him dying but are never going to show it. no adventure is worth dying for... cue 'the more you know' nbc psa music..

I watched a study on grizzlies once that was trying to figure out what caused those bears to snap and kill him because it did seem so bizarre being that he was so close to them. It was really quite a tragic event. So ironic how the very animals he faught to save ended up killing him.

from what ive seen/heard there are just some bears that are tagged/released/tracked/retagged/annoyed/injured/tagged again so often that they just begin to see humans as a threat and become hostile.
