On paper our holiday was a disaster.... I'll tell you all the things that made it horrible, but actually we had a relaxing time and enjoyed ourselves a lot. Off to Italy! We finally sorted out a holiday, driving to Italy, up near the Alps. See you in a few weeks.

Crazy cat! My cat is 18 years old, very arthritic in her back legs which makes it difficult for her to jump up onto the bed, or laps or anywhere really, and tiny. And yet a giant Tom got into our house the other night and I woke to hear an enormous screaming cat fight right outside Maddi's bedroom door, at 2 in the morning. Scared us all to death! Grump, grump, grump... Not having a good day so far! I phoned the US embassy this morning to make an appointment to renew my American passport. They disconnected me, or lost me in the transfer system 7 times!!! And when I finally got through to a human being it turns out I can't come in and drop off a passport application, I have to post it, which ( Read more... ) -

So, it's been several hundred years since I've been here... Life pootles on, Andrew is working, manning the big screens showing the Olympics at the park round the corner from our house. This weekend we headed to Zurich. We have a friend - Ian, who is currently touring with U2 - and he got us day passes to see them! We left bright and early on Saturday, got to Zurich, checked into our hotel and then headed out to the stadium to meet up with Ian and pick up our passes. Lunchtime conversations with 3 yr olds
So I was sat at lunch this week with a table of 8 three yr olds when M asked me what a rabbi was. I asked her if she knew what a priest is and she nodded. I told her a rabbi was like a priest but specially for people who are Jewish. Last week was my first at the new job, we did home visits with the children who are just starting nursery. That was interesting... It was snowing for 2 of the days, and the footpaths were ice death traps the other 2 days! Not so fun when you're walking everywhere. Most of my keychildren are adorable with super nice families. Oh my word! I've just spent the last 2 days at the nursery I'm going to be working in - getting to know the kids (adorable) and meet the children and parents who are starting next year. This afternoon a child had another child accidentally shut her fingers in a door - quite badly. The head teacher in the room left the family she had been talking to ( Read more... )
