The class is so unfocused that I think, “Good Lord: how does any education take place?” I try quieting students by looping silver chains, much like dogtag chains, in mouths, but realize that will do more harm than good.

I used to knock Stephen King -- having read only a few short stories -- until a friend challenged me to read one of his novels.
So a friend has asked me to watch the Harry Potter films. (I prefer to read first and allow my imagination free reign (sic), but I have so many more crucial works to read, I capitulated.)

I walked into a classroom that was absolutely packed; sixty students cramped into those economy too-small deskseats. There was an undisciplined yet positive energy: each was involved with his or her own conversation or doodling or reverie.

I keep cadence pace uphill:
Tooth, skin, and alligator hide,
Make a pair of jump boots just the right size;
