I found this on a post-it note on my desktop, from last spring quarter when I was taking a Geology class called 'Natural Hazards and Disasters'.
I totally learned two things from my Geology textbook:
1. California has 4 seasons: flood, drought, fire, and earthquake.

another fire update... cuz i know you don't get enough of it on the news
On Monday night, there were fires that broke out on Camp Pendleton, as well as on Del Mar in downtown SC. They were able to put out the one on Del Mar pretty quickly. The Horno fire (on Pendleton) is approx 40-50% contained, and has already burned 17,000 acres. At least it's no longer threatening homes on the base. They're using controlled ( Read more... ) -

For those of you who live under rocks: Southern California is burning. And if not for the fact that I have friends who were evacuated today (in Malibu, Arrowhead, and San Diego), I love it. Is that bad? I love fire season. I loved waking up this morning and smelling smoke. Forest/brush fire is one of my favorite smells in the world ( Read more... )
