There is an Arthur remake. (The movie, not the kids book franchise.) This... disturbs me. Because, cmon, REALLY? I mean Dudley and Liza were ADORABLE in the original, but that's just not the kinda movie that's so good it calls out for a remake. Not by any stretch ( Read more... )

I saw the original the week it came out. I don't like Russell Brand, but I may be tempted by Helen Mirren. But it won't be a patch on the original, with or without the moon and New York City.

You know, it really makes me feel old when I hear they're remaking films that I remember from when I was in my 20s :(

Russell Brand as Arthur the Aardvark sounds kind of intriguing.

I reeeeeeallly like Russel Brand so I'm kind of wanting to see what he does as Arthur. I liked Liza and John Gielgud in the original, but I remember being kind of put off my Dudley Moore back then (I was 12 at the time the movie came out). He was really big and doing that "drunk all the time" schtick which freaked me out as a kid. I couldn't stand Dean Martin when he was doing that either. Not so bad now, but as a pre-teen, I just couldn't stand it.
