Not Getting Out Much These Days

Almost three weeks ago, I slipped on rainy back steps and my feet went out from under me. I managed to land in a way that twisted both knees really, really do not like to be twisted. (Elise is fairly certain that I dislocated one kneecap for a bit...) madrobins  and elisem  were both here (we were watching the Oscars), and had me on ( Read more... )

So, in an hour and a half I'm going to an homage "party" for someone I didn't know well. She passed away a week ago; I attended her wake and funeral and reception following the funeral. I'm wondering if I have any special responsibilities to execute before or during an homage "party." Any hints would be appreciated.

I'm glad you posted on this. I had seen you at Potlatch but didn't know you well enough to approach you, as you were surrounded by your many friends. I was wondering what the diagnosis had been, having heard the story of your fall. I'm glad to hear nothing was broken, although a prolonged recovery is no fun either.

I agree with jenwrites, long walks are highly overrated. Especially when they end with fall down, go boom/splat.

ow!
This could really put a crimp into the Wiscon auction. Maybe you could do it reclining on a Roman couch with designated Happy Dancers or something.
That's not advice, of course. Maybe an idle suggestion. Or a fantasy.
But you probably didn't hurt your fantasy bone, so you don't need suggestions. You can be suggestive all on your own.

Hoping to be healed by the auction, but do not plan to do as much leaping about as I often do.

My fantasy bone appears to be undamaged. (As does my lascivious mind, because, really, Fantasy Bone....??)

Ouch! Much sympathy.

In DVD-land we have just started re-watching "Northern Exposure" and are delighted how barking mad it is.

Have you got "Anathem" by Neal Stephenson to work through? Holding that up will be physical therapy all by itself.

Aha! Now I suspect a conspiracy to ensure you get through the reading in time.
