One of my Canadian friends has been using this as an opportunity to complain that Canada's system and leaders are much worse.

In some ways, yes, in others, no.
We don't get to elect our prime minister. Heck, we have to ELECT the party and the prime minister's whomever THEY elect for party leader. XP

That's not so different from the electoral college, is it? I think he was complaining about a lack of term limits, mostly.

There's also nothing keeping the party from relecting a new leader after they're voted in, either - one of the STUPIDEST things ever.

Canada's first woman prime minister held office for about 2 weeks before the PARTY LEADER election after the FEDERAL ELECTION kicked her out.

Hey, don't forget that you have to get married and also stay married for a certain length of time for the citizenship to be helped! And citizenship isn't automatic, it cane take years to go through! So don't get too marriage-happy on anyone else! >.>
