He’s your son, it is up to you to raise him how you see fit. It’s nice of her to supply her opinion, but it’s ultimately up to you what you feel is best.
I appreciate her advice, I do. And I know she isn't coming from a place of ill will. But goodness, there is no point in being pointless. I just don't want my kid hitting his head all over the place.
I'm a mum of five. Some children crawl, some go more or less straight to standing/walking. Some do a cute little slug-drag around and never crawl at all. Each child is an individual and has their own way of learning. I feel as though if your little one crawled all the time she would be complaining that he does not Stand enough :) Unhappy people complain a lot and it's likely that she has her own issues that cause her to be so contrary. I can imagine how hard it was to say goodbye to your family after having that time with them. Hopefully you get to make a trip back to the US as intended. Cheers!
Came here to say this. My oldest loved crawling on his knees while my daughter who just turned one does a lizard crawl but then really wants to stand and is trying to walk earlier. I have a MIL who wants to offer advice but not give real time or do the 'hard stuff' (and now she lives far away, thank goodness), so I get the frustration.
Mine lives 20 minutes away but isn't too involved unless we iniciate. She isnt a bad person though and is quite nice otherwise. So to have her be like this now :/
Glad to hear that your family finally got to visit you and that you all had a good time. Hopefully you will get to see them again soon.
Your mother-in-law has very strange opinions. You can't just make the baby crawl by crawling next to them - that is not how that works! Some babies crawl, some scooch, some just want to stand and walk. My cousin didn't want to crawl at all. I think it is amazing that your son is already standing, his cues are most important, not anyone else's weird opinions.
There are studies that show it can be harmful for a baby to stand and start walking too early. I fully understand the concern and am willing to give it thought. But coming at me with contradictions and things that don't help.... We're going to let him do what he wants to do, as long as he isn't banging his head everywhere, which is my concern at the moment.
