I just recently accumulated this handful of female friends, and they are so much work.  They have all these problems that are not really problems, all the time, and they always want to talk about them.  On the phone.

I like them, and my life is better with them in it.  But good GOD.

How sad that I feel like most of my college life has been marked by disappointment!  I have had a ton of fun, but the good times come in sharp spikes and only serve to split up long periods of what feels like isolation.  I have learned to loooove my own company, and I mean that part without bitterness or sarcasm.  I genuinely enjoy spending time ( Read more... )

Yesterday I walked up to the bus stop and just opened my book.  Across the street a guy was pulling out of the parking lot, when his truck stalled and he couldn't get it started again.  He got out of the truck - I noticed he had a broken leg - and popped open the hood and was tinkering with whatever is under the hood of cars.  I kind of sat there ( Read more... )
