Don Connor's wife Sabrina ( Artemisia) was diagnosed with cervical cancer last March.  Things have proceeded in such a way that her liver has essentially stopped functioning.  They have hospice coming in to help, but there is little that can be done.

Trying to put together the Estrella packing list....need at least three late European formal gowns, only have two that can be patched up to be presentable that don't involve hoop skirts.  So we have a choice, finish the lavender elizabethan, which is nearly done, and take the hoop skirt and all that non washable silk to estrella.  Or get the blue ( Read more... )

....and I guess I am a dumb fighter because I didn't ice it til I was done fighitng.  I *did* check to make sure it wasn't broken before the swelling set in though....the neat part is that the force slammed through the digit to bruise the non-impacted side first.....and I almost have the range of motion back.

So, I managed to burn pot stickers.  Which doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment until you understand that I burned them using the microwave.  While following the directions on the package.  And they managed to smoke up the entire top floor of my house. And it is snowing again!  This is more snow than we have had in years!!  The last time it snowed like this I was 17 and freaking froze to death!!  That was the year we learned about wearing two pairs of pants and 4-5 shirts at a time.  Didn't help because I couldn't produce body heat...but it assuaged my psyche nonetheless.  I didn't learn to nuke ( Read more... )

Anyone thinking about going to Gulf Wars this year???? 

I managed to change the lightbulbs for my headlights today with just a screwdriver and minimal swearing.   Apparently they unplug first, and then you take off the rubber seal-thingy, and then there is this funky wire that holds the bulb itself in place with tension that goes *pa-tang...tink,  tink, tink....* into the unknown depths of the engine ( Read more... )
