I have such a hard time with conflict in real life that I really put a lot of work into that flow from all-okay to something's-wrong. I'm thrilled to hear it worked well to read.
I appreciate the feedback. Glad you're enjoying it.

Glad you're enjoying. The next chapter's being a little tricky. Gotta figure exactly where it starts and where it goes.

I'm glad you like it. I worry that it's rolling too slow, that people will lose interest, but then I get comments like yours, and I feel better about it.
It's tricky, spreading the little adorable moments of schmoopy couple-hood among the little glimmers of angst, and not overdo either. Thanks.
I'm thrilled that you de-lurked. This review made my morning. :)

Not an OC. :)
Jensen's family loves him like crazy. I should get into their reasons for feeling like they do next chapter or the one after at the very latest.
His family does know about the scar. And Jared will ask at least one question about it very soon.
One thing that I really try to avoid in my slash fic is cementing the boys into one gender-role or another. They can trade off being cared for or caring, strong or vulnerable, inside spoon or outside. Jensen can cook--it doesnt make him the girl. It's tricky sometimes, keeping them balanced and solid with their self-concepts.

Again, I like that even those Jensen's family hurts him, it's not intentional-they love him and mean well. They're not the villains because they're religious, which is how they're usually portrayed in rps. There's plenty of narrow-minded non-religious and/or bigoted liberals out there, too, but you don't see that much in fanfic because fandom's sorta biased-not without reason. I'm just saying, any extreme mindset can be alarming, no matter which direction it goes in.
If cooking was what made one "the girl", then I'd be "the boy". *coughs, eyes dusty kitchen* Mutual caretaking is a good thing, yes.

I'm really trying to show Jen's parents as 3D characters, flawed but loving people.
Heh. I'm so domestic. I can cook and sew and all that good stuff, but I think i'm more butch than my husband most days. :)
