Aw, my Thai neighbour brought me an orange as a convalescence gift ^_^ sweetie.

But that is not the purpose of my post! My purpose is ... castles for Cecily and Kyoto for Anne!Restless night this. I've just thrown a cranky tantrum and deleted the story I was working on, as it was crap - as even its Paladin would agree :O - and I seem to have been ( Read more... )

I want a Japanese castle. But with a Templar architect. [hops up and down pointing at pictures] the lines! The wonderful lines! [joy]
It's so odd, at once terribly exotic and so familiar...the third one of the dark indoor pictures reminds me of a small castle nearish chez-ma-tante. [fascination] I think I might dream of these...thank you for finding them! ! !! [flap] All right, I'll calm down now. My flatmate found me a method of attaching shiny things to my person today as well, I make a pleasant sound like a small raincloud as I walk...castles!

...and a reccomendation rather than a request: there's more of Martin's story up.

Hee. I think the little familiarities come from the fact that a castle has one primary purpose, keep the bastards out - hence the little essential features like put me behind a moat and higher up than all those bastards and make sure the wall angles are like -so- to stop them climbing ... but the roofline is just something else. Almost fairyland material, if we're talking about the serious fairies who don't mess around with buttercups and toadstools. I absolutely love the sweep and the grace of them. ^_^

When I first saw them I thought they were just beautiful, but actually the tiles and the steepness and all the graduating eaves are specifically called for because as you might imagine, wooden castles have a certain weakness to fire, and don't want people dropping flammable crap on the roof ;P

Sorry it took me so long to find them, anyway - I have GOT to do some proper archiving soon (she says, optimistically). ;D

And ooh, is that Jon Midget's Martin? I'll definitely be along. Thanks!

All you need post-degree to teach in Japan is a pulse, my sweet ;D or failing that, save up $4k for a decent week-long holiday and spend it in Kyoto/Nara (Tokyo isn't worth more than the one big-city photo-op, to me).

And hey, if you come before February next year my guiding services are available (reasonable rates, no refunds) XD

Nagoya is my second home now. It'll never beat WA, but then ocean + desert + eucalypts is pretty hard to beat O;D and I still get that definite cosy feeling of this is where I live whenever I walk the streets around Meieki ^_^

(just wish I could move back to my old apartment XD;;)

The thirteenth chapter of Beth's Awakening went up yesterday! =D

...and if you should ever get hyarmi-withdrawal pangs, for whatever reason, you could visit 'A Song in the Twilight' via my Portal Page. It's been up since the beginning of February.

Enjoy your free days!

Ooh, did it? Fabby! :D Tsh, it's only taken them a month to get to her, poor thing ;P (I've long since stopped checking the status of mine ...)

And good grief, I didn't know there was a hyarmi story left in existence I hadn't read yet! XD How'd that one slip under the radar? Thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely be along in ye Great May Catch-Up ...

Same to you, hon - hope things are getting along well for you over there. ^_^

Those castles are gorgeous. They look integrated with the landscape in a way castles here don't tend to be (probably because the subliminal message of castles here is Oi! Saxon oiks! We rule now, nyah!)

Um. I have Saisorhi encountering zombies (last two entries I've made).

Enjoy your weekend, m'dear.

Normans do rule X3 X3

I sort of picture the Japanese version as being "Behold, if you have time [because you still have to be polite]! My low and humble residence is more impregnable than your exceedingly honourable residence and it more vividly conveys the essential metaphor of the fragility of human existence! Go back and cry to your tea-master at a time most convenient to you, esteemed loser-sama!"

*cracks up* ... so they did get their zombies after all. XD Oh dear. I'll look forward to that (should I?).

You enjoy too, me sweet!

Ooo, pretty!! You'll probably have to go poke Anne on her elfwood page; she has an aversion to livejournal for some reason. ^_^

Welp, I got the reworked chapter 1 of Hunted on Elfy if you're bored enough for that...

Hope you feel better soon!!
