Heh, she was a painter - two seconds later she handed me a flyer to an exhibition where some of her work was showing and tried to give me a free ticket worth $20 (as well as invite me to her house for tea ... all this before asking my name XD).

And no, I'm not a member of deviantART, I'm afraid ... it's a bit more art-focussed than writing-focussed and I'm not a big fan of the ads. Why? Do you have a gallery I can look at? :D
Ads? You're silly. That's what the adblock extension on Firefox is for. I haven't seen a single ad on deviantART since turning it on.
You should join. There are a lot of writers, even if it is more art-oriented. And it has great forums. And none of those annoying ticket things. And the site is just, well, generally shiny. ^_^
I ask because I've been starting to participate on the site after a year or so of lurking, and I've also started fiddling around with digital art again. You can see my gallery here.
Mmm, nothing I've seen on DevArt has ever really driven me to join (I'm already on Elfwood and Fictionpress as is, and look how dazzlingly active on both fronts ;P) - I post work for criticisms, and the longest bit of feedback I've ever seen on any piece over there was 'YAY!!!!!!' XD But I'll happily go and spy on your art!

I think this is a golden opportunity for some candid-camera action. Mr Hentai is waiting by the fake windmill at 10 PM when a guy walks up. Unmistakably a guy, but he seems to be wearing an awful lot of makeup. Mr Hentai begins to suspect that something odd is happening. Mr Makeup approaches Mr Hentai and gushes: "thank you for being so patient ... so faithful ... the sex change operation ... finally see me as I've always been on the inside..."
Mr Hentai's brain explodes and after running away very, very fast he vows never again to stalk foreigners, who are all crazy. Maybe?
