Well, I've survived the first week back on four hours of sleep a night - go me! BD (My own fault for writing down the wrong report deadline, completely forgetting a small test and being too weak to refuse invitations to eat sukiyaki yumyumyum.) Next week will be slightly quieter and more sleepiful ( Read more... )

Raykin, too, could well adopt this beer-god X)

I find that just sitting out on the balcony or down by the fire (depending on the season, of course) with my spoiler book and a pen works wonders for figuring Stuff out. That, or staying up to 5am then trying to get to sleep, but I understand this won't work for everyone X)

I can't wait to have Lissa-writings appearing on my flist again =D How long until you're back on Terra Australis? X)

The beer-god accepts all the faithful, my child.

Hmm ... just under a month it is now ... I'll leave February 10 and arrive back in WA on February 11. Got loads to do before then, which means it probably won't feel like long, either ...

Hee hee, if I'm on to something I ignore the silly clock too ... I remember I pulled almost an all-nighter for that Tintauri thing last year. But that was OHMYGODASTORYDON'TRUNAWAY!! desperation there.

And heeey, speaking of Things Appearing on Flists, you know what we rarely see these days? It only just struck me a few days ago: 'May being kickayss! You let the boys out to play every now and then, but 'May hasn't kicked any requisite ayss for ages! :O Even if mini!May is certifiably adorable, action!May must be losing her touch >;)

*poke, taunt, agitatestory* O;D

Muses have no sleeping pattern, it's a known fact! It's 6am, you went to bed an hour ago and have the computer turned off? Who cares? LOOK AT THE SHINIES WE HAVE FOR YOU TO WRITE! =DDD

Hmm~ she does need to kick a bit of ayss, doesn't she? The blade archers will be getting complacent XD She's due to pretty damn soon in SH proper, but I agree, more shorts are needed!

Good luck with the speeching, btw! Just put yourself in the audience's shoes: you'll be doing them a favour if you tell them to treat their pet noodles with respect =D They'll think you're cute and Aussie X)

Weeell, guess we'll see whether or not it works, but it definitely seems to fit even in a different place. *glomp*

*snugs* I have about three old stories that I know I have to scrap and start again on, because as they stand they are all just rubbish. However, rather than doing that, I go do something else instead *oooh shiny*

Good luck! I have every faith in you. If the depth of thought and detail you have put into your fae is anything to go by, this can only mean good thing for the Soulfire bunch. *misses Lorannon*

and where the North is. -- Sorry, but this amused me. Have you been using Sat-Nav before now ;)

*cackles* XD I missed out on a 'now' at the end ...

*installs a small console on the back of Immovan's visor*

Blah, I only wish I'd done something sooner instead of all that in-place patchwork editing and three(ish) total story rewrites ... then it might not have taken fourteen years to realise ;P

This is my problem, really, I think ... I can usually see where grammar or pacing is wrong (after X edits ;P), but anything that isn't concrete often just escapes me completely. Hence my informative book reviews like 'I dunno, something was weird about it.'

Anyway, to moving house and to new shinies! *toasts and hugs*

(that is a ridiculously adorable icon, by the way ... I miss dogs!! T_T)

I don't envy your public speaking, but I wish you ever luck for it!

Public speaking *shudder*. Luckily I've only experience with unimportant
non-personal, technical presentations. Poor you. Two thing to keep in mind:

- Almost everyone hates it and is dying from nerves when doing it.
The audience doesn't notice it most of the time.

- Preparation is everything. Know what to say, and practise it beforehand
(I never went that far, but I'm sure it helps ;-). Don't learn the exact
words or you'll sound ridiculous.

As for dwarves, they could have been a powerful mountain folk that was
cocky enough to challenge the gods. As reward they were shrunk and put
under the ground.

The good thing about this one is that Japanese people are sitting there expecting you to make a certain quota of mistakes (in fact I think it's a designated part of the evening's entertainment). My two remaining bothers are just a) making a mistake which is just TOO embarrassing and b) SIXTY PEOPLE STARING AT ME LOOK OVER THERE IT'S A SHINY MONKEY AGH RUN AWAY.

At least, I think that covers it. Never mind, it'll all be over in a week >_> Ta!

And I actually rather like that idea ... *ponders* And now for some reason I think they should be tinkers/gypsies/rover types ... no idea why, it just popped in my head then.

*mumbles off as per usual* ;P

It's strange, but in my experience it doesn't matter if it are twenty people from your own class, an even smaller group you don't know well, or more than fifty mostly strangers. It's as dreadful everytime. So practising for friends should work too I think. The more you do it, the less dreadful it becomes. And that gives you more confidence, which makes the damn mumbling go away. If you've a soft voice you just need to speak LOUD and clear, and not too fast. But you don't want to hear your own voice, so you start mumbling ( ... )
