Interesting. I hope they leave the existing Basic accounts alone indefinitely, or I'll have to ditch
soulfiresnippet and go internet-hiking for another notes dumpy place without ads.
Can't say as I find the tone of this promising, though. ... *rather fed up with policy shifts in various online communities lately*

You should see some of the posts on the community I'm linking to, it's even scarier.

What a bother it all is. Fractious internets! :P

My second thought was "... HA, I got a basic account a few days ago, suckers!" Which is nice.
My third thought I dunno. I've been on LJ a long time, and see account types change a lot but it's never affected me on my real journal since it's Perm. I'm annoyed in a fashion, mostly since I read Brad's stance on it, but at the same time I'm not personally annoyed by ad-accounts.

I wouldn't reeelly care about ads on this account (which is amusing, since it's the one I paid for), but when it's on a page where I have my linkies all arranged and do orderses and fiddles, I get ... Twitchy O_o I don't know why.
The main thing I'm worried about is losing any friends who understandably may not WANT to pay for an electronic diary that will someday vanish into the mists of internets. In which case I would be Alone, mournfully posting stupid memes in the eerie silence, left without anyone to admire my 95% compatibility with a chicken sandwich ...
