'mala dies' sounds sinister

The Romans used to believe that some days were fas and some were nefas (incidentally, where we get 'nefarious' from). You would have to be a loony to expect things to turn out right on a nefas day. Chinese and Japanese people believe similar things about certain days.

Yesterday, I had a nefas day, a conjunction of stars and planets so adverse that ( Read more... )

...Oh hun XD; I really feel for you *HUGS* The worst mixup I've had was mistaking Wakefield Street for Waymouth, but they're only about a K apart, and I had comfortable footwear ^.~

(Also? My dad had a perfect view of the scoreboard at Adelaide Oval when he was in the city X3)

(Scoreboard's the important bit ... I don't reckon you'd see either properly from Maylands HQ :D)

One blister covers half of my left heel ... I think it used to be a few separate ones before they all fused together XD XD All this really means is that I get to lie around moaning dramatically while coffee is fetched for me, so hey!

*is still flabberghasted that no-one twigged onto it being Obviously Her Fault anyway*

Seems like you reached a level of Complete Stuff-Up where you were just laughing at anything else that went wrong XD; You're going to have nightmares about walking between railway stations now!

It's a fatal flaw of mine, I think ... my stress levels only go a certain distance up the scale before they hit the Immature Twit wall and bounce off being silly ... >_>

I haven't MOVED from my bed/the couch except to fetch drinks these last two days :D :D

Awwwwww. *huggles and offers up hot cocoa* I'm glad to hear that there were some bright spots too, even if the rest of the day has been... not so good. *snugs*

*is still quite zzzful, apologises profusely for not having an awake enough brain for decent comments*

That's the weirdest thing about it, really. I actually think my brain has filed this away in the 'Good Days' box, though I can't point at a single reason why it would do that XD XD

Never one to refuse hot virtual cocoa, mind you ... *glomps*

I hope you've been able to take your shoes off...I take the state of being lost as rather a given in cities [has managed to get lost for an hour and twenty minutes whilst walking to the end of a street before] but losing the travelcard probably wasn't your fault...

Heh heh, I'll say. Though it is a source of endless amusement for my family that I can get lost in my home neighbourhood with monotonous regularity and yet negotiate your average Japanese metropolis with (relative) aplomb. Personally I think that's by virtue of the Japanese love of signage rather than some latent homing pigeon gene fizzling and dying in my brain.

Oh, did I forget that part? My SmartRider was actually with me the whole time, as I later found out going home. It had just fallen out of my wallet and lodged perfectly between the pages of a folded bus timetable. Nefas!

... and my shoes have been off for about 48 hours now XD

*snickersnickers* I'm sorry, I am a bad person. But you, my antipodean precious, are awesome -- life will throw your hat over the fence and giggle hysterically at you as you run around after it. -- See. Awesome.

Bless you for having a sense of humour. And your poor feet! I walked three miles the other day in barefeet because of bad choice of shoes. I feel your pain.

Glad you're enjoying your place of work, even if the work is dull. Besides, all of that clearly couldn't have been your fault. The pixies are clearly after you.

*snugs*

Oh, I was plenty stressed at the start! I can't say I started to see the joke until discovering the Ghost of Police Stations Past up on the hill ... that was when it tipped off into the ridiculous. By the time I was walking back to Perth I was just picturing what I must look like with my little waddle-hop along the tracks XD XD

And yeah, the people always help, don't they? I'm inordinately fond of the people I work with already (especially Acting Sergeant Teddy-Bear), which I wasn't expecting. They're not at all how I imagined major crash police to be.

*glomps the Becca and sics the Acarthians on the pixies*

Only [info]annarti will understand the significance when I say that high-ranking officers on the top floor of the complex can see into the WACA ... FROM THEIR OFFICES Not true! I fully understand the significance!

As Becca said, it was good you had a sense of humour about it. I don't think I would have reacted with half as much grace. I tend to get worked up about these sorts of things.

*hugs* Hope the blisters heal up soon.

Bah, I have maligned you unfairly! Of course you know what the WACA is too. O, the days when the Weagles used to play there, and there was a little more clearance between us and the bottom of the ladder ... *flops*

I was certainly quite stressed and anxious to begin with, but my problem with these things (ie. sensible reactions) is that my stress-o-meter can only go up to a certain level before my nitwit-o-meter starts to react and interfere. Exams were always the worst for it - I'd find anything hilarious in an exam. I'm sure the moderators must have thought I was insane, sitting there periodically grinning like an idiot to myself ...

Thanks, sweetie, I've had a nice couple of days off my tootsies and they're slooowly starting to look like they belong to a human again! ;)
