"If old ladies and kids can do it, so can you"

So, got back yesterday from climbing Mt. Fuji. Ah, Fuji. The stereotypical, best known symbol of Japan. It really does rise out of no where in the landscape and it towers over the surrounding prefectures. FJET (Fukui-ken JETs) offered a trip to climb the mountain and watch the sunrise from the summit. You know, for $130, it was a worthwhile ( Read more... )

Definitely worth the $130 -- I feel compelled to donate a dollar or two to your Paypal account just for hearing the tale! :-)

Makes me want to go climb Pike's Peak now... Yeah, maybe after I can clear So Deep or Max 300 (pant, pant, pant...) I remember climbing to the top of Utah mountains as a teen, though, and the view from there is permanently burned into my memory.

Congratulations on acquiring one of the best kinds of memories...the ones that last.

It was fun...just tiring. Pike`s Peak is so much easier...truly. I really do feel accomplished, and that`s well worth the pain I have been in for 2 days now. Curse you muscles!

I have no idea what Dakara is. Also, I heard that all your neighbors hate you because of what the last person who lived their did to them...WTF is up with that?!

Dakara is another "super water" that tastes better than Aquarius. I love the stuff (and have 3 bottles at home in the fridge).

As for the hatred, yeah. Sarah Brodie threw a party, her friends parked in business spaces, the businesses freaked out and tried to block them in, the friends lifted the K Truck blocking them and left without an apology. Shortly after that, my principal and vice-principal got involved and made a total of 4 apologies to the 2 businesses. I am on thin ice already, and I didn`t do anything! The neighbor lady hates gaijin and speaks (as Chris Redd, another JET calls it) Geezer-ben. I can`t understand her, and she is all kinds of nosy. Grrr.

It is free to climb the mountain (for the 2 months each year it is open), but my knee is shot now. I ph33r for Noah`s, even post surgury. The climb down is hard on the knees because you are walking down a 45 degree or more slope for an hour and a half (or longer). That is what killed my knee...and made me more exhausted than I thought I could handle!

Sounds a bit like my Long's Peak trip, with the exception of perhaps the 2 foot wide walkways with nothing but plummeting death right next to you the whole time that was always present on mine.

16 miles and 14 hours of misery and accomplishment. For me at least >:D

Very nice. Most of Fuji was wide, but kinda scary in the dark. Every time I stumbled, I hoped to fall forward, so as not to freaking die!

What`s up with you and moving?

That was hard... I miss them already =(
