“Ok-shii, I can assure you that the new fence put up here by Park-shii is still perfectly on the border division between your two estates.” Changmin spoke in a calm yet authoritative voice.

“No, it’s not. It is two centimeters over on my land. Every few years he steals a centimeter from me!” Ok Taecyeon whined. Changmin shivered at the sickening aegyo.

“You are out of your giant mind Ok Taecyeon!” Park Jaebum snorted. “Is the air up there so thin that it’s affecting your brain? Why would I ever want to steal your unfertile land?” Jaebum pouted.

“You take that back right now.” Taecyeon’s eyes narrowed.

“Or what?” Jaebum and Taecyeon stepped closer to one another.

“Gentlemen, let’s calm down, shall we.”Changmin suggested and he and Jaejoong each took a man aside. As the Sheriff and Deputy listened to the men tell them about one compliant after another about each other, it became clear that the two ranchers were simply trying to get each other’s attention in any way possible.

Changmin motioned to Jaejoong and the four men reconvened. “Park-shii, Ok-shii, I think you two need to sit down and have a nice long, civil, talk - over dinner, perhaps.” Changmin began, trying to be subtle.

“Possibly some candle light as well; to set a relaxed mood.” Jaejoong chipped in, doing his best to hold a grin back. His suggestion certainly removed the angry looks from the two ranchers’ faces and replaced them with ones of shock.

“Deputy Kim, you are awful lucky we were right about those two, or we would be in a whole heap of trouble right ‘bout now.” Changmin playfully scolded Jaejoong for being so bold as they made their way back to town.

“Why Sheriff Shim, I am never wrong.” Jaejoong faked a gasp. “Besides, Ok Taecyeon’s ears turned as red as chili peppers whenever that Park Jaebum came within five feet of him.” Jaejoong grinned. The bickering relationship between the two ranchers reminded him of his own relationship with Changmin.

“Yah! Stop your girly day dreamin’ we’re still on duty.” Changmin couldn’t help but tease Jaejoong, though he did quite like that soft look on the other man’s face when he was lost in his own imaginings.

“Yes Sir!” Jaejoong mock saluted.

Ever since the episode with Seung-Heon, Changmin had feared that the Jung Brothers may plan some sort of revenge and decided to keep them separated. This meant that speaking to Yunho in private would be easier for Yoochun as the man was locked away in solitary confinement; a set of cells kept in the back of the station, away from the main cells and Sheriff’s desk. Yoochun slipped through the empty station’s doors. It had taken only a dimpled smile and a wink to convince Yong Bang Cheol, his young admirer and pick-pocket extraordinaire, to cause a bit of a scene in the town square. When Deputies Youngwoon and Siwon ran out to deal with the young delinquent, Yoochun took his chance to slip into the back section.

“There’s my boy.” Yunho practically purred at the sight of a still slightly bruised Yoochun approaching his solitary cell.

“I’m not your boy.” His voice became cold, like when he had said his last words to Song Seung-Heon.

“Oh, and who’s boy are you? Your Deputy hyung’s or are you the Sheriff’s boy now? Golly Micky, you sure know how to sleep your way up.” Yunho’s condescending tone and leer made Yoochun shake with anger.

“Shut your dirty mouth.” Yoochun grounded out.

“Only if I can press it against that pretty little mouth of yours.” Yunho moved up against the bars and puckered his lips.

A growl escaped from Yoochun as he rushed the cell and grabbed onto Yunho, pulling him against the bars and causing his forehead to get cut. “I should have killed you when I had the chance!” Yoochun hated that Yunho still had such an influence over his feelings.

“Likewise, then at least I’d know that I had been the last one to have had you. Tell me, by any chance am I?” Yunho wrapped his grubby hands around Yoochun’s smaller ones and squeezed painfully.

Yoochun snarled, trying to pry his hands away. This was quickly feeling more like a trap for him than Yunho.

“No, you’re not,” Jaejoong answered as he entered the back room, Changmin following behind him. Yunho released Yoochun with a sneer. Changmin came to Yoochun’s side and examined the man’s bruising wrists with a frown. Jaejoong’s faced morphed into his cold mask as he stepped up to the bars, taking Yoochun’s place.

“So you’re finally getting a taste of this sweet little thing you were always so selfishly keeping at your side.” Yunho’s patronizing tone returned as he backed away from the bars and into the safety of his cell. “You must be so happy to be finally able to release all that sexual frustration into that sweet little thing.” He winked at Jaejoong and nodded towards Yoochun.

“You’re a disgusting pervert.” Jaejoong spat, wishing he could just go in there and kick the shit out of Yunho like the good old days.

“At least I can admit to it, can you - Deputy hyung?”

Jaejoong’s arms lunged between the bars of the cell in a futile attempt to grab at a retreating Yunho. The man had an uncanny way of getting into his head and picking out all his fears. It was no wonder Yoochun was still plagued by nightmares about this sociopath.

“He’s not worth it.” Changmin said softly as he wrapped his arms around Jaejoong.

“Oh my. Don’t tell me you and the sheriff are an item now - but what about - my my my.” Yunho’s smile grew to an unnatural size as his twisted mind connected the clues. “You are a pervert Deputy.” He turned to Yoochun who was standing off to the side now, defeated. “and you really are a little whore, fucking around with two officers of the law. Tell me Sheriff, does the tax money collected from the good people of this town go towards paying for your sordid affairs?”

It was now Jaejoong’s turn to restrain Changmin. “Remember, this piece of trash isn’t worth your career.”

Yunho cackled. He never knew he could have so much fun from behind bars.

Yoochun studied the man in the cell from where he was, behind Jaejoong and Changmin. Yunho didn’t seem so big and scary anymore now that he was locked away. He was practically helpless now and all alone…

“God, you are so pathetic. Why did I never see it before?” Yoochun said solemnly from his place off to the side; in the shadows.

Yunho snorted as he struggled to see Yoochun from his darkened hiding spot. “Says the whore.”

“I may have been a whore once and I may have two lovers now, but at least I won’t the one to die a criminal; hanging from the gallows. Nor will I be the one tossed into a shallow grave in the desert only to have vultures pick at my unearthed corpse.” The icy tone in Yoochun’s voice was unnerving - even more so than when he had knelt over a dying Song Seung-Heon. The young man stepped out from the shadows to face Yunho. “Where’s your daddy with his big name and loads of money now, eh Yunho?” He grinned maliciously. “You’re a disgrace to your own family.” He spat at the man that had terrorized him most of his life.

It was a brilliant observation on Yoochun’s part. The Jung patriarch hadn’t made the slightest fuss when his sons were arrested even though the news was wide spread. The only one who had come to the Brothers’ aide was their deranged cousin - and Yoochun had killed him. Since then, no one from the Jung’s side had come forward to help the Brothers.

Yunho fisted his hands at his side. “Careful what you say Micky. When I get out of here-”

“You’re going to be sent to the capital to be hung. Your daddy doesn’t want you anymore and Seung-Heon can’t help you now; I made sure of that.” Yoochun retorted before Yunho could even finish his threat.

“You - you’re the one who killed my cousin? You murderous whore!” Yunho attacked the bars of the cell. Changmin hadn’t wanted Yunho or the other Jung Brothers to know that it was Yoochun who had killed Seung-Heon as it would have only made them want to come after Yoochun more. However, it seems Yoochun couldn’t hold himself back now.

“Careful now Yunho, you might hurt my feelings.” Yoochun’s previous nervousness had disappeared and he now stood confident in front of his greatest nightmare. He had finally seen through Yunho’s charade and the man could no longer frighten him. He was free - at last.

“I will get out of here and I will come for you.” Yunho spoke as menacingly as he could through his gritted teeth.

“And I will be ready. I shot you once and I can shoot you again.” Yoochun said coolly. He then turned to leave the solitary cells.

“Come back here you whore! I’m not done with you yet!” Yunho’s yell was closer to a vicious growl.

“Enough!” Changmin yelled out; taking control over the situation. “You shut your foul mouth; he is not yours to order around. And you -” he turned to Yoochun. “we will deal with at home. Come on Deputy Kim, we’re still on duty.” Yoochun didn’t make a fuss; he was ready to leave the jail and Yunho behind.

Jaejoong nodded and moved to follow Changmin and Yoochun out. When the Sheriff had turned his back, Jaejoong spat at Yunho through the bars; his spit landing on the man’s boot. He gave the enraged man a little wave goodbye and swaggered out from the secluded area.
