Late night whining...I suppose...

May 13, 2010 00:46

Late at night, I seem to think much more than I used to.  I try to over-analyze things that should be left alone.  I read posts about other people and their achievements and begin the melancholy decent into dissecting my value in my own endeavors at Faire.

Here comes the whining in depth... )

I'm not there, so I have no independent perspective on the situation, but I can certainly tell you that I don't know any performers at Scarborough or elsewhere who haven't had all these thoughts.

Kill the "You Suck" voice. It is a git, and it is dumb and also stupid, and must be beaten soundly.

Wanna cause trouble this weekend? I'm so up for causing mischief if you are. We'll come up with something, and it will be glorious.

I know how you feel, very much. I'm a listener, so I'm often on the fringes of conversations just because I don't know what to add. It's why I try to force myself to have patron conversations, and start them. I may just be asking what they've seen and done, but it's getting me (and them) talking.

You and me, this weekend baber. We'll wreak some havoc. >:D

I totally understand. All of that sounds so very much like what I had in my head for the last 8 years. I sort of forced my way into people's friendship circles. Plus I was over committed to shows and not doing enough in the lanes. And I was never good enough to be asked to help teach anyone, even though that is precisely what I do for a living.
People like your fuscia dress because of the bright colors. If you made your replica dress in fuscia, you would get the same reaction. You are very talented. And you WILL be called queen because you are very beautiful. Beauty gets mistaken for royalty all the time. The only recommendatioin I can give is to cut down shows as much as your soul will let you, and then make sure that your interactions in the lanes are more with patrons than they are with other performers. I am betting you already do that, but that is all I know how to advise anyone on from this distance.
I love you. I am sorry that being beuatiful is working against you. I do like the idea of you going village.

I actually think a change of character might suit you very well. One, it would bring you into the English villager group which is very strong. We are an English faire after all, and if you play a foreigner, it is going to be more complicated and a bit more on the outside. Finding the balance between pretty princess and lane beast is very difficult. People tell me I have found it, but I do not feel like I have ( ... )
