Okay, now I'm no longer running to catch the bus so I can write a bit more.

One more note on House. I really sense that the prison experience, mea culpa or not, broke bits of him, that his need to toe the line combines with some small loss of self. He has the puzzles now, but not the power, and it may be that he needs the power to feel well again. To feel a healthy egoism.

This. House is, in fact, still a prisoner. He has just changed location. The part about him eating every meal at the hospital cafeteria is heartbreaking.

If there's a return of snark and pranking someday, it could save the story. Meanwhile, I do hope Wilson is supplying him with lo mein.
I do not hope, hope is self-defeating. But if it happened, it would be so good. (closes eyes, dreams...)

And Wilson's ethics' being situational after all poked through. House oughtta be more careful what he wants.

i found it a little disturbing, not to mention OOC, that when House was talking about the kid masturbating he seemed to be trying to convince the kid he was doing something bad.

I noticed that, too. The remark about blindness probably was intended just as a Housian snark, but was badly written.

It's weird to leave a comment on a review for something you did not watch, maybe? But I like yours. It feels nostalgic, as I am without watching. You give a great atmosphere impression. And I'm afraid you probably put the finger on the truth : House has left the building, because Hugh Laurie, somehow, has moved on too.

I haven't left. I'm waiting and seeing if HL and the rest come back, as I liked very much the first 2 episodes of season 8. Crossed fingers.
