I'm finding it difficult to learn Tai Chi from a video. Luckily, I have a good video which explains how you should feel and gives multiple viewing angles of a 24 movement form, and when I get back to my base I'll be able to work with someone who has taken Tai Chi and knows the Yang long form. So, I realized I need to go to Gainesville, FL and stay overnight to tour the UF campus and ask a plethora of questions. And this needs to happen while I'm on R&R in May. Anyone up for a roadtrip? I'm not extremely interested in driving 7 hours without company. There or back.... but I do have music.... Either way, roadtrip anyone?

Would someone explain to me why nearly everyone in the Army assumes that anyone who joins is going to make it a career? Isn't anyone allowed to just make it a pit stop or perhaps a scenic route through which one might detour on their way to someplace better? I'm not looking to advance in a "career" that doesn't exist. I was recently surprised to learn humans were designed to be the best endurance runners on the planet. Before tools, the accepted way to hunt a deer or gazelle would be to run it down. Born to Run by Chris McDougall makes you want to run. I highly recommend this book.

I'm looking into studying kinesiology when I get out of this hell-hole. It's a mix of western physical therapy and eastern accupressure and incorporates the study of chakras. It fascinates me. Now, I just need to get myself to do more Taiji.

I'd like to live near mountains, and not too distant from the ocean. But, all in all, I want to be able to see the stars at night ( Read more... )

I finally took another PT test. Good news is I did better on my push-ups and the two mile run. Bad news is I did worse on my sit-ups. I completed 74 push-ups in 2 mins., 79 sit-ups in 2 mins., and ran 2 miles in 12 min 34 sec. If I had done one more push-up and one more sit-up I would have maxed out my PT test. But, 298 out of 300 isn't horrible.
