UPS just delivered my grey boots. Wow. Only six days, and that includes a holiday weekend. Not bad at all.

I think they’re the right grey for the costume, but I think I might have ordered the wrong size- 9 medium instead of  9 wide. Pulling them on and off, they’re a little snug. Don’t know what to do with them at the moment. There’s probably not ( Read more... )

Ooo, perfect place to wear Punk Leia: the Video Games Live concert in three weeks! I don’t think most people will recognize it, but it’ll be comfortable to wear.

Darn this costume! In the lighting used where it’s on display at Celebration IV, both the top and the boots are brown.

I think I’ve found a solution to the “what color to make the bra” problem: taupe pigskin suede. It’s not quite grey, but not quite brown, either. There’s a Tandy Leather not far from me, so I’ll try to pop over there sometime this week. Hopefully they have some in stock.

For a costume that has so little fabric to it, it’s really frustrating deciding on colors.

The promo images show a greyish-brown bra with grey boots, which is pretty much the color scheme that appears on screen. (All grey is what the action figures tend to show.) In some of the behind-the-scenes images, however, the bra does look a lot more grey. ( Read more... )

Boots are on order.  I’m going with the Markon Suede Pull-on Scrunch Boots from QVC.com (product code A60371), the boots Jamin recommends. Not my first choice, but since I decided to do the grey version, they’re the best options currently not out of stock.

All I need is a pair of red plaid tights, and I have a new Leia costume. I’m not wearing it to Assassination City (local roller derby) tonight like originally planned, but that’s okay. It’ll be fun to wear at one of the PlanoCons.

The best part of this costume? Since it’s the punked out version of the senatorial gown, I didn’t have to worry about ( Read more... )

Silly me. I’ve been searching all over the internet for a hi-res version of Hugh Fleming’s “Star Wars Rocks” poster, when I own a copy of The Star Wars Poster Book. Silly me. Of course it’s in there. Two-page spread, even.

I’ve done it. By June 2, I should have my bikini parts from Jamin & Tomak. Which leaves me just a few days to get the whole thing put together before the exhibit opening. Pressure! There’s not much fabric to this, so it shouldn’t be that bad. And I can get most of the skirt assembled before hand.
