Feeling invisible?

I've discussed this with some femme lesbians on another site and some said that they felt this way sometimes too. I was wondering if anyone felt invisible because they were a femme? Like just because you are feminine and cutesy you just get completely disregarded by some people in the community. I wear my rainbows but people don't really see it as ( Read more... )

I feel the same. It also seems like it's impossible to meet another femme (not that I wouldn't anyone who isn't a femme but just prefer it).

It's so hard to meet that special someone as it is but it's extra hard when you're looking for a fellow femme. I wish I knew more people who could introduce me to someone. I don't like parties or bars, very unpleasant experiences at the two bars I went to but I dunno how else to meet someone. D:

I've definitely felt invisible due to being femme. Things have gotten better since I found the local group for femme women but for years before I didn't know another femme and felt very out of place and illegitimate in the community.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully I can find other femmes.

Invisibility is pretty much a given. Everyone I meet is always surprised I have a girlfriend and not a husband. Even in a lesbian bar people don't seem to think I'm gay. But I like being femme, and my girlfriend thinks I'm cute in a skirt, so I just sigh and have the same discussion with a lot of people.

It is, although I might scream the next time someone tries to tell me I can't be gay, /while in a lgbt+ space/. Don't we get enough of that outside safe places?

I totally get this... Half the time if I'm out and around on the gay scene people seem to think I'm some sort of lost fag hag or just plain lost ... It bothers a lot and makes me feel that I don't really fit in? It sucks!

Same.... it's annoying that everyone assumes everyone is straight.
