So. Finally got this thing working again, just in time to hear all bloody hell breaking loose up there. Sad to have missed it.

Unfortunately, I've been spending my time chained to a wall in someone's basement. Now I ask you- is that a way to treat an old mate ( Read more... )

What kind of cigarettes?

Morleys, if those even exist here. But at this point I'd probably try to smoke tea leaves, were they given to me. Not nice to keep a vampire from his century-old habit.

I'm afraid you were misinformed in being told this was a vampire friendly city. The populace won't need a reason to take action... if you do ever get free, I'd suggest being more careful. Not that I probably need to even say such an obvious thing... hindsight being what it is.

Yeah, gotta say that's pretty clear now. But see, I wasn't exactly announcin' myself. I was just coming out of a bar and they jumped me. Being undead shouldn't be grounds for kidnapping, not in this place.

In an ideal world, yes... Unfortunately, this happened to a friend of mine as well. Vigilantism seems to be the norm here, they need no reason. And the authorities seem to back them up. You have my sympathies.

Let me guess- that wouldn't happen to be the lovely Marishka, would it?

As far as vigilantism goes- that tends to happen in a place with no laws. People get tired of that and then try makin' up ones of their own.

Vampiric beings can live out in the open. However, as you've unfortunately discovered, there does exist a double standard.

So I've noticed. I don't know if this counts as being able to 'live out in the open'. Doesn't seem to be doing us any favors.

There could be a bright spot in all this; the Police Force may take notice and thus, your captors into custody.

Ha! I doubt it. 'less there happen to be some vampires on the force. That would be bloody brilliant, though.

You're right, Spike. In a city full of super beings, you don't exactly pose much of a threat. And you haven't even done anything warranting your arrest, so we might as well let you go.

If you promise to play nice.

Oh, of course. Wouldn't dream of hurting a hair on any poor innocent's head. Should I give you my scout's honor, as well?

If only that actually meant something coming from you.

The bottom line is that we can't keep you imprisoned. You haven't proven dangerous to anyone, and considering how many people here know how to handle themselves, you probably aren't going to. You just happened to come at a bad time when stress was high and we were feeling rather paranoid. You understand.

I've got the keys to the shackles. I'll be over in a bit.

That's right, I'm just a little lamb in this big city full of superheroes. Not dangerous to anyone.

Damn right you'll be freein' me. Got no cause to keep me here, and you all know it.

Spike. You're chained up. And still terrorising the Network! Wow.

Well, you know me. I'm a multitasker.

But this way you're not terrorising and eating people, so you know. Of the good.

Which is, of course, always the first thing on my mind.
