This Christmas, the Roman Empire is going to fall. . .very, very slowly.
"Watch as I magically do nothing remotely political or military, and presto, 500 years later, a "tyrannical" empire slowly declines and divides into some successor states and kingdoms and eventually becomes a big tourist destination!"
Hmmm... So the reason God became man and was crucified was to create the mother of all tourist traps. That God sure is one clever businessman. I am intrigued and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I love that you posted this. I found it a very helpful reminder and it presented some things in a new light for me. I have been terribly guilty of a lack of enthusiasm for Christmas the last several years.
My favorite priest ever used to launch into rants like these, spontaneously, during his homilies (and occasionally during other parts of mass.) I learned so much from him.

My favorite priest ever used to launch into rants like these, spontaneously, during his homilies (and occasionally during other parts of mass.) I learned so much from him.
