i dont get the additive thing either. I almost didnt believe you when you first mentioned it - why would anyone add that stuff if they didnt have to? But omg i thought corn syrup was bad.
This is a little stupid. These people just have no idea.
Great pictures. Sounds like y'all are having a great time.
That sucks so much about the food additives here in the US. We have started trying to cut out the corn syrup and preservatives from products we consume, and it's near impossible. I'm starting to make baked goods at home to avoid it.
Wow, I never realised how we didn’t have as many additives in our products as the US does. I assumed that packaging/ branding might be different across the world but figured the products were the same. I also never realised the impact those differences can have on children who can’t tolerate additives. I suppose shipping certain foods to you from here wouldn’t work because of the cost/time/customs issues? If you think it could work I’d be willing to try and ship something if there was anything in particular he liked here that you can’t get additive-free over there.
Over the last few years of being part of the baking world online I don’t know how many times I’ve seen corn syrup mentioned. I know what it is now but for a few years I couldn’t figure out what it was at all. I still haven’t seen it anywhere here, isn’t the closest thing we have golden syrup?
It was on our flight to London that I realized the UK was going to be good for Jarod. They served breakfast and when they handed me strawberry yogurt I started to turned around to tell my mom, who was taking care of Jarod, not to give it to him because it would have red dye in it....but them I glanced down at the label and saw that it used beetroot instead and I thought "Welcome to the UK, we care about your child." :-)
Thank you for the offer, so sweet, but I can get treats for him I just have to go to the health food store and pay and arm and a leg. lol But it would still be cheaper than overseas shipping. And I did bring a suitcase of smarties and other treats for him.
Golden syrup would be close but I think it's more pure, HFCS is heavily processed and so very bad for you and in everything! I tried putting golden syrup on my pancakes once but it didn't go very well, it's soooo sticky. I'll stick with my pure maple syrup. lol

Perfect for the kids as they each get their own cup, and can add what they want.

But the dye....NO reason for it at all. Period. Frustrates me to tears.
