I should be at a union meeting right now. But I drove up and down the same fucking block of 16th street for 20 minutes without being able to find the building. Until I was so frazzled that I came thisclose to getting in a nasty accident. And then I gave up and came home. And now I feel even shittier for missing it.

I put up fencing around the garden today. We probably should have done that in the first place, but we'd hadn't had any real deer activity until now -- just a few drive by munches on our bean plants. And I need to find out where Laura ordered the pee we hung on our beans so we can can more and tie it up to the fencing.

Deer ate all of our tomatoes. Well. They ate all but six of them. Which means that they ate more than sixty of them. We were expecting to have more tomatoes ripening than we could possibly know what to do with within 2 weeks; now they are all gone. I think maybe we garden to find our way back to Eden. It's hard to think of anything that makes me as happy as nurturing the plants along and then giving in to the temptation to eat their fruits. Last night HJ and I ate salad that was a mix of greens from the salad table, basil leaves, and lambs quarters (not grown on purpose, but very plentiful). ( Read more... )

Earlier this evening, HJ was saying that she's been working on LGBT aging issues at work. I told her, "just don't get old." She assured me that she was planning to have all the queer aging concerns worked out by then, and I pointed out that it still wouldn't solve being old.
