Oh, I think it's been long enough, I might as well post...

I've always had some OCD tendencies, but they were in full view last night. Since I needed to clean out my kitchen cabinets, I spent several hours cataloging them. By cataloging, I mean writing down every single thing in them and the quantity and putting it all into an Excel spreadsheet for easy reference. I've made some important discoveries:

I want to see how long I can go with just using as much of the food in my cabinets as possible.

I love this game but I finally got the point where I HAD to start buying stuff again.

And I'm not saying I'm not going to buy ANYTHING, but I am going to try to keep it to a minimum.

Ok, awesome. Of course, keep in mind that I think a stockpile is a really valuable commodity. In case anything goes wrong, there it is. Also, you can afford to wait to buy more stuff until it's at a super cheap price, cause you've already bought what you need, so nothing's an emergency purchase.

I will be happy to play the game though, if this is what you want to do! And it's good to rotate food out when it has been there a while, so maybe that's what you mean. :-D
I'm already thinking of tons of ways to use the rice: Spanish rice, fried rice, rice pudding, arroz con pollo, porcupine meatballs, under anything Indian or Asian, mango sticky rice, ground beef/cheese/tomato soup/rice baked casserole (omg so delicious)...

In general, here's a resource you might like:

Ooh, porcupine meatballs! I didn't even think of that! I came across a bag of dried chickpeas and some basmati rice, so I'm seriously thinking curry sometime very soon. Tell me about this casserole...

As for the Jello--poke cakes are always fun.

If you come across anything you won't use though, donate it. Hooray!

You know, of all the cakes I've made, I've never made a jello poke cake. I'll have to try that.

Just wanted to say hi and I miss you, but oh how I suck at this game. I am a daily grocery girl and can't do the big stockpile....well, not for long I have a big baby boy now who will eventually clean the cupboards bare as a teen.

Having said that, I was recently laid off so am being MUCH more frugal and have enjoyed the creativity in the kitchen immensely.

Keep us posted on your progress. I need insipration and will gladly take some from your Summer Challenge!!!

Hi there! I've never though of myself as a stockpile person. I tend to make many grocery store trips during the week. I'll absolutely let you know how this goes. Recipes will follow shortly.

Allrecipes.com lets you enter in the ingredients you have and then the search results show you recipes that use those ingredients.
