Dearest Saintly Mistress Raine--would you object if I were to pursue objectives of a nefarious and or black-bladed nature? I am whole in body once again.

[It's really, really cold, and Archie doesn't particularly want to be outside. He's hurrying back to his apartment after stopping by the general store to see if they have paints for Jilly. Also black powder, which he's never had to use so far, but the smell is nostalgic. He's wrapped up pretty solidly in his greatcoat and picking bits of walnut off a banana muffin he grabbed from the bakery as he crosses the bridge.]

[Jack lounges against the railing on the far end of the bridge and observes this muffled stranger approach. When Archie is about midway across, he steps out in front of him, sword drawn--not quite sure what to expect, since this man moves like a soldier and can probably handle himself somewhat.

But that's half the fun, right there.]

Hallo, boy; and where might you be off to with that delicious-looking muffin, eh?

[Never bring a sword to a gunfight. Archie's pistol is out and cocked almost before he stops. He takes half a second to react internally to Jack's appearance, then raises his eyes heavenward.]

You can't be serious. Are you really accosting me with a sword for this? [He raises the muffin into the air a little. A guy with a gun and a muffin. You don't want to mess with that, do you?]

[Almost as quickly, Jack's pistol is out as well.] Oh, I like that! Pistols at twelve paces? And it's not even dawn!

...Erm, and aye. I am. Hand it over and no one gets hurt.

[ oh hell, she sees you from beyond as she approaches the bridge. she nearly turns back -- but, no. after the news she has gotten today, she had best just steel herself up and march her way right over that bridge. ]

[The seeing is mutual, Buffy; Jack very nearly relinquishes his bridge and heads off into the forest. It's only some kind of raw pride that keeps him there, and memories of the truce they'd parted with.]

'Allo, Slayer. Any valuables on you this evenin'?

Maybe. Why?

[ she doesn't get too indignant with him because, well, bigger fish to fry. ]

Marauding. [Though the pirate has made no move to draw his sword, this time.]

...

How are you?

[Well it just so happens that Brook is out and about today, carrying all sorts of things! The crew's been feeling down lately... for obvious reasons. And if there's one thing Brook hates more than missing nakama, it's unhappy nakama.

So! He's gotten some stuff to cheer them up! There's a nice new cookbook for Sanji and a whole bag full of candy for Chopper, along with some tasty dried meat for his Captain.

Oh. And several bottles of alcohol for Zoro, to replace his booze stash.

But no one could possibly be interested in these things, right? Right. So just walking along and enjoying the winter scenery here, humming a happy tune then. 8D]

[Well look here, it's that Skeletal Chap--with an interesting-looking collection of items. Sparrow considers; fighting people who are already dead has little to no profit in it, unless said dead people are chasing you or otherwise trying to kill you. So instead of outright attacking, Jack gives a friendly wave.]

Brook! Haven't seen you about in ages, lad.

But I'm back now! skulljokelol January 13 2011, 02:58:33 UTC
Ah, Captain Sparrow! [Tip of his hat.] Unfortunate that - I'd been detained by other business, you see. How are you?

Much more better, lad, though it would appear I'm living in a home formerly owned by a family of eunuchs. Very odd place indeed. And I've been skint out of rum, sadly. You?

[Guess who's out for a walk despite the cold weather, taking in this new place and getting her bearings as the landscape starts to come to back to her a bit?

It would be Ami today, finally convinced to doff the disguise somewhat after so many people seemed to see right through it.]

[Jack is lying in wait behind a large tree. He can hear footsteps and decides it is best to wait and see whomever he is about to rob, waiting for them to pass his hiding spot before stepping out behind them. So he waits a little longer.]

[He can see Ami, all grown up! She walks with a more confident step and even has a slight smile on her face.]

[Jack can only see her from behind. He watches for a moment, satisfied that this might be an easy job, and then steps out into the path.]

Hello, mistress; anything of interest to a pirate about your person, then?

[Hat on, cigarette in mouth, and armed (as is standard in this village), Jack is going over the bridge. Over his shoulder is a bundle, a rather large bundle. What could be in it? Well that's the real mystery, isn't it?]

[What indeed? Sparrow finds himself bursting with curiosity over this very question. Strange chaps with mysterious bundles don't traipse across his bridge every day.]

Afternoon, mate. That looks heavy, it does.

Looks can be deceiving.

[Jack quickly sizes the pirate up. Not difficult to tell what line of profession he's in. The sword the gun give him a good guess as to what era he's from as well. Could be a fable.

... could be an out of date mundy.]
