As someone who has been shamed all my life I so agree with this. I did develop bulimia through the shaming (and other things) and I never lost weight by eating healthily, either.
Turns out I have had a metabolic disorder for most of my life, but doctors never bothered to check because when a fat girl says "but I DO eat healthily and work out!" they just shake their heads and pat you on the back, telling you how to cut down fat intake. Shaming, belittling and treating people like they re idiots is never the way to go.

"...but the solution to fighting obesity is not shaming kids. It's teaching them about the importance of nutrition, learning how to love being active, and feeling good about themselves regardless of what they weigh."

Right fricken ON!!
You don't inspire people to treat themselves better by making them feel worse.
