Even since Sophie, Gaheris has been doing better by enormous lengths. Having a surrogate daughter is stabling him in the same way it stabled him to have his own child when he was in exile; he's not well, he'll never really be well, but he's happier within himself, less lonely and twitchy. They are relatively happy.

"Papa!!!" Sophie, however, does not. She runs to hug his leg.

Well. Having taken his resolution not to meddle, Merlin has taken to being a kid again on the Mansion grounds, and so Gaheris might come across a little boy, smoking a pipe (!) and slobbering bright canary yellow slobber.

He's sitting in the hallway, and drawing little stick figures in the air, which fleet off and fade after a moment.

Carefully, "Good morrow." He even uses Orkney Norn, as one does to talk to Folk, despite the fact that just saying words in his native tongue makes him twitch.
