I've been feeling nostalgic today. You see it's the anniversary of my beloved Herbert's death. Herbert and I were together for 35 years, you know, before he died on an unusually cold and rainy July night. You could never understand the flutter of my heart when Herbie spoke or how long it took for the cigar smell to vacate our house after his ( Read more... )

Marj, my heart goes out to you. It's a rare thing during these rough and tumble times (well, I guess those rough and tumble times -it was the crazy 30's when you met, right?) to find a man who can treat his woman right. I salute you and I salute him. Let me know if there's anything I can do to console you in a completely platonic and in no way take-advantage-of-the-grieving-widow sort of way.

Another note:

I was shocked and appalled to discover this evening that, when I did a google search of your fine name, madam, this was the fifth site to be listed. I am disgusted that such a site be associated with your name. Were it within my power, I would have the entire internet shut down until this situation was settled. I curse whoever sullies your great name and swear to take revenge should the culprits ever be discovered.

Listen sweetie, that was my past. I'm not proud of it, but I have learned to accept my mistakes and move on. In an attempt to better my name, I have done countless civic projects. I am most proud of my contributions to the sport of women's curling. In fact, the Scott Tournament of Hearts has established the Marj Mitchell Award that is presented to the curler who best embodies the spirit of curling. The winner is selected from votes cast by all the players at the tournament. If you would like to read more, check out this website.

The Internet is a gift. It has the power to enlighten us, but also to destroy us. We mustn't let the evil doers win this battle and work to build a safe place for our children's children to grow. I greatly appreciate your concern.

God Bless,
Marj
