I picked up a couple of plants for the pond today. Went to Earl May, which didn't have a lot of selection. I realized when I got home that I should have gone to Bob Lenc Landscaping, as I think they have a ton of water garden stuff (they're also closer!). Plants
Took some pictures to ask questions on gardening. Figured I might as well share them here, too.
The previous owners planted this one in a stupid spot. According to the tag (which was still on the tree when we moved in), it's supposed to get quite tall and be 8' in diameter; so they planted it right up next to the house.

Birds
After I posted yesterday, there was a cute little Chipping Sparrow under the finch feeders scrounging. Another first.
This morning, one of the Northern Flickers was back. This time, it was in the front yard. He was checking out a cavity in the Ash Tree outside the office window. It would be neat if they decided to nest in it this year. -
NEW BIRD!
Northern Flicker (Yellow Shafted). There were two of them out by our "pond". One of them was drinking, and the other was just hanging out.
There were also a bunch of finches on the feeders at the same time, and right now, there's a queue for the birdbath. -
Two things
1) There's a really ugly spider on the ceiling above me.
2) Boston Legal was canceled tonight so they could bring us more milking for ratings coverage of the shootings from yesterday. -
Quiche
I made quiche for supper tonight. It didn't turn out well at all. Now, I feel sick. -
Podcasts
I removed Spinnerscast from my list of podcasts. I was already a bit frustrated by the fact that I apparently remembered more details from the books than the 'casters did, even though I'd only been through the books twice (three times as of this evening). But, the latest episode contained much inter-ship-dom warring, and that just got ugly. It ( Read more... )
