We left Innisfail just at the right time.  The rain started on Saturday night.  Our flight was at 5pm Sunday.  We were staying one hour's drive from the airport.  At midday, we decided to leave for the airport  as we feared the rising waters would flood the bridges on the way.  We got through easily, so sat at the airport for hours ( Read more... )

I was purchasing something at Myer today and using a gift certificate as part of the payment.  I was standing next to the woman who was serving me as there wasn't an actual counter.  She wasn't able to do the transaction correctly so ended up going to find someone who could help her.  She walked away from me and LEFT THE TILL WIDE OPEN ( Read more... )

How privileged am I....I was asked on the weekend what family gift I would like for my fiftieth birthday and I could think of NOTHING that I either needed or wanted.  What a blessed life I have to have reached that point.
When really pushed, the only answer I could come up with was..... a mahjong table.  How wonderfully pathetic is that?!?

Paul and I went to the Outback Spectacular at the Gold Coast tonight.  We had free tickets.  I couldn't believe how excellent the food is or how the owners could afford such an all-round high quality production.  We were most impressed with it all and recommend that everyone should go there once in their lifetime ( Read more... )

Yesterday, we were bombarded with warnings that the greatest downpour since the 1974 floods was going to hit us.  We had to clean up around our yards, remove anything that may cause the water to become logged and enter our house and batten down the hatches.  We were told to expect up to 8 inches (20cm) of rain overnight ( Read more... )
