I switched one of my testing journals to a Basic account, and confirmed that the 'Show old style Entry page' option appears for Basic users, but doesn't seem to actually work right. It should work the same for all levels, yes. Bug ticket filed, thank you!

I think the behavior of long threads is still something being worked on.

I can't reproduce what you mean about the LJ header going missing with the style settings you selected -- I selected those and I still see the main LJ header, the navbar on my journal/flist, etc. Can you maybe do a screencap of what you're seeing?

I'm just talking about the classic comments page lacking the main LJ header, for what it's worth; I don't use the navbar.

This is what I see at the top of the page with Minimalism/Deep Ocean/Show old style Entry page set, and this is the very bottom.

Should I not be seeing this at the top and this at the bottom?

This happens for this account in Chrome and nookiepowered in Firefox, so it's not just the one journal or the one browser.

I'm looking into this one at the moment -- thanks for the screenshots. It does look like something isn't quite right there.

Edit: yep, confirmed that's a bug. Ticket filed. Thanks!

When I briefly had it on, I had the navbar show even though I don't have it turned on, and the main LJ header was gone. Minimalism/Deep Ocean/Show old style entry page/XColibur. Edit: Firefox 10, Windows XP.

Also:

This is what I and my community users are seeing on any Classic Comments page (comm or personal journal) that has a subject header in the comments. Is all that blank space above the subject line / username/date info a deliberate design thing? If no, there's a display issue somewhere. (If yes, that's awfully clunky and adds unnecessary extra vertical space.)

Yeah, that doesn't look like it should be right. Reported it, thanks!

Thank you, and thank you for making the time to respond to so many of these.

You're going to get awfully tired of reading the word "also" from me, but... there's a lot of also.

Also: all Minimalism-style friends-lists are displaying like this for me, both in this account and the one pictured, in Chrome and FF, with multiple Minimalism layouts tried.

No friend user-names, no friend icons (despite this being set to Yes in the journal settings), no way to identify who made the post besides clicking into the entry itself. C'est un problème.

Edit after testing: this only happens with Old-Style Comments turned on. I turn them off and refresh my friendslist, et voila, icons and user information are back on the entries.

The issue with the no usernames and icons appearing when this option is set is reported and fixed, and should be included in the patch release that will be pushed out today sometime (according to the info I'm seeing).

The new patch has been released, and I think this issue with the friends missing the icons and such of the posters is fixed now -- whenever you're next looking at your flist, can you see if it's working correctly for you now for that issue? thanks!

Yes, indeed, that's fixed! Thank you!

I'm getting this very attractive style when I turn on the old comment style. My journal and friends list also get messed up into the same style. :\

That's basically format=light, which sometimes displays when the site's not loading properly. Having it display continuously is... yeah. A bad thing.

It looks like the style sheets for those pages haven't loaded correctly. This can be due to a brief connection error at the time you loaded those pages; if so, you can usually fix it is by doing a hard refresh of each page (usually by holding down the shift key while you click the reload button), or by clearing your browser's cache and reloading the pages.

Also, also, but a fairly big, annoying one for community users: Old-style comments have the same issue as custom comments do with knocking the user back to the entire page after posting from within a thread.

In other words, if I only have this thread loaded and I reply to the last comment, instead of just reloading the thread, I see the entire page and have to view every comment and scroll back down to where I was.

Mildly annoying on a post this size, hugely annoying on a discussion post with long threads where loading the entire page is super-slow and most community members avoid it on purpose.

This isn't an issue with the S1 comments, nor was it one with the actual old default style. Just custom comments and "classic" comments. (Which are really a custom comment style and thus it's not surprising that they've inherited any bugs already found in the Minimalism custom style, but it really needs to be fixed.)
