AOL Notification problems

As of about 2 hours ago we received confirmation from AOL that we've been placed on their whitelist and that LJ is unblocked from their automated spam detection programs; this was verified using marta's email test account. Part of the delay was explained by AOL as such ( Read more... )

EDIT@08:16 UTC/GMT. Wow. That was ugly. I expected it to go for 30 minutes and have maybe 1 minute of broken connectivity. EDIT: If you're reading this, our maintenance is OVER! The problem was not found on our equipment, which means we'll have to work with our ISP to fix this small problem -- which also means another maintenance window in the future -- but at least we have eliminated our side.

Maintenance work has been completed and looks good so far! Again, there's going to be some slight slowness for a little bit, but after this 1 hour period, LJ should be fast (or at least, as speedy as before) in loading pages for you ( Read more... )

Everyone has been very patient and understanding and we thank you during this frustrating time. We're still being attacked right now, but we're trying to get it so that every human (no attack bots please), no matter where you are or which computer you're on, can get to us.

We're using the same certificate as "www.livejournal.com" which is why -- depending on which client you use -- some of us are getting host/certificate mismatches. Some solutions are:
