Bokurano for 31_days August wrap-up
I wrote purely Bokurano oneshots/drabbles for 31_days. I was going strong for the first 3 days...and then I began faltering when the Olympics started. I ended on Aug 15 since I just wanted to get to that theme. These are all written in the spur of the moment...and now I'm too lazy to edit them. Blah. I'll let them be and work on something else. Thoughts on writing these (the first 15)
Fifteen themes meant that I should have had one theme for each pilot, but somehow that didn't quite work out. I did more than one theme on Ushiro and Machi (the second one was meant to be more about Dung Beetle though), and I even did one on Seki and Tanaka. I never got around to Nakama or Anko. ): At least they had a little part in the last fic.
Writing these were a lot harder than I thought. It was really difficult to write about so many different characters. Some of them are so minor too! And in Bokurano where everyone dies, there isn't a very big pool of interesting characters to pick from. I cheated and started writing about Jun's predicament after the ones before him die. That wasn't what I had planned. My plan was to not even write about any of the pilots but just about the people they've left behind. I clearly failed right in the beginning on day 3.
The deadline was tough. I really had to push myself to write these. Right after August 15 where I decided it wouldn't matter if I missed a few days...I ended up not writing any. T__T;; I meant to do something for August 25: God Lives Underwater too because I thought it was a perfect description of Zearth.
I put the most time and energy into the first theme with Nagi and Tsubasa. It was what got me started writing these. I also liked writing August 3: Gravity Kills, since the funeral scene was another I had been thinking about. I stayed far away from Ushiro's head though, since I didn't feel like I could get into it yet. I thought August 5: Supply and Demand came out pretty well (once I got started, it was easy!). August 6: 27 Names for Tears was the most surprising. It's the only one that's humorous! I was entirely stumped by that theme until it came to me that it didn't have to be angst-filled tears. :) And then the writing was easy. It was fun too!
...after that, I have to admit I rushed the rest. I blame it on Olympics. D: I wrote the rest between commercial breaks.
Even though I didn't manage the entire month, I still feel good for even finishing half a month. :) I want to do this again! I'm busy with school and student teaching at the moment though, so I don't think I have time. But I'm still entertaining the thought of doing some The World Ends with You drabbles for September. Some of those themes just fit so well. I just finished the game last week and am dying for more TWEWY fic. Preferably ones about Rhyme and Beat!
