The only problem with that is that newborns are ugly and infants are nowhere near as cute as alot of pets.

Agreed; I think 99% of babies I see are ugly.

While I do agree, let's remember who do find it cute, the mother who just gave birth to that screaming placental ball and that's all that really matters.

But let's not forget, that the article is saying that anything close to a baby is supposed to be cute. If this is for the sake of finding adoration in our own newborns, than the newborns of others should be cuter than a cat or a dog.
