The Best Birthday Ever

Still really sleepy and dazed from the trip. I promised an update for my birthday but I didn't get back early enough, so it's gotta wait a few more days while I re-orient. Bleah ( Read more... )

That sounds like you had an AWESOME vacation. I'm so glad you had a good time.

As for the money thing, I don't know what to say. In some aspects I wish I could be like you, living off my art, having something to give to the world that it so desires. Sometimes I feel I gave up my dream for the money (Even though I still draw and pant and think about doing it as a job and not as a hobby) but anything you decide to do will always be hard.

Economy is kind of crappy right now anyway (moreso in America then the rest of the world) so it's a consideration that maybe this is just a financially bad year, but I can't imagine not knowing when the next paycheque is coming in.

Good luck to it all and best wishes, hopefully you'll find your calling in life and joy in all things!
(gawd that sounded cheesy)

Happy Birthday and what an epic trip! (I'm a coward and like my life to be rape-free, so I always bunk in a budget motel when I road trip --but sometimes I wonder what it would be like to camp out under the stars--especially in a place like the Badlands where it's dark enough to see the Milky Way and such.)

You can sometimes find really good deals on hotel rooms in those brochure shelves at rest areas. (Got a coupon advertising a 90 dollar room for 30 bucks one time. Place had a pool and continental breakfast. WIN!)

Sorry to hear that sales are down and I hope things improve soon. And that you don't have to resort to drawing and selling furry porn to stay alive (unless you're into that sort of thing, of course. ^_~)

Geez I miss the Midwest. It's weird.

I dunno, I haven't done as many cons as you, but I've done AX for almost a decade...and I honestly can't tell how a con will go from Thursday. A TON of people don't register for all days for AX, so Thursday is the least populated day. Now, FRIDAY if sales are poor, that's not good. But Thursday doesn't mean much. I didn't make more than $20 or something on Thursday, but I did significantly better the rest of the time.

Where were you in the Artist Alley? I was at the giant purple booth the entire time and didn't get to see you. :( AWWW.
