lovely_carrion CHAPTER 16 PART 1 Differently from the first time he'd formally had lunch with the family, the moment Yutaka arrived into the dining room, each seat had a servant standing behind it, and each but one had someone standing in front of it. Apparently he was late; even though it was still ten minutes to lunch time.
-Glad you could make it ...- politely expressed Genral Hayashi, whom this time was the one to sit at the lead instead of Yasuno, who was standing by his fatehr's right. At the left of the general was his wife, to whose right stood Takahiro, to whose right stood Kazuhiro. Dr. Niikura had logically been given the lead guest position at the other end of the table, and on his right there was the empty sit, where the apprentice readily walked to, and where, once arrived, he quickly raised his gaze to his right to glimpse at Akira, whom was impassively standing and looking forward. The apprentice couldn't quite vouch for the blond next to him, but as for himself, just that, having Akira next to him, had been enough to make him a whole lot happier indeed -... well then we- attempted to state the general, trying to give permission for everyone to sit, if it weren't for the doctor's interruption
-Are we not waiting for Kouyou? ...- he quickly questioned in a seemingly rather natural wondering tone, still fully standing, whereas almost everyone else was halfway seated, all but the general, whom was seated, and was calmly looking up at the doctor still standing across the table, while he composedly placed his napkin on his laps
-He will not be joining us today … so I was told earlier ...- informed the general, as the halfway hanging group ended up sitting, such Yutaka, whom observed the shadow of a hurtful expression graze the doctor's face, as the elder brunette followed in toe and silently sat, while apathetically staring at his plate
-Is he not … felling well? ...- inquired the doctor, not looking at the general, but intently staring at his napkin, which he was placing over his laps
-I have not the slightest idea ...- calmly replied General Hayashi, allowing his own attendants to serve his first dish -... all I know is that an Indian man suddenly appeared on my way here, and told me that Kouyou was going to have lunch … elsewhere” explained the general, in his usual calm tone, but visibly trying his best to hold in some sarcasm when it came to specify his brother’s whereabouts
-I see … - politely replied Dr. Niikura with a gentle smile, which was probably meant to indicate that he was only asking out of curiosity. However, after all that Yutaka had been told earlier in the morning, it was quite impressive just how much pain was hidden behind that regular gentle smile, and the apprentice began to wonder, whether hadn't it been like that ever since he met him; and long before.
Abandoning the sight of Dr. Niikura's pretentious happiness, he stared at the dish, which had been set in front of him by his attendant, and acting as unnoticeable as possible in such a present silence, he slightly glimpsed to his right to take a quick look at Akira. The blond lawyer was silently eating, in a very composed manner, looking straight at his palte only, like the rest of the people at the table, all too silent, all their expressions too grave, and once again it felt as if they all knew something that Yutaka wasn't aware of, but for the moment, the apprentice wasn't going to let himself being bothered by that; he had his own plans to set going as well.
-How have the businesses been going Yasuno? …- suddenly inquired the general in all calmness, while elegantly wiping his mouth with another napkin on the table
-They are proceeding smoothly - as calmly replied Yasuno -... I have had no issues yet, and it appears I might be soon closing on a next deal - he then added, every now and then glimpsing at the father, whom seemed to be listening but not once had actually looked at the son while talking
-How about the firm Akira … - continued the eldest as he resumed eating -... is you professional secret still well kept? - he finally inquired, turning to his left to smile at his wife, whom went out of her way to use her napkin and lightly pat the sides of the general's mouth. Was she really so oblivious to everything that was going around her? Wasn't she even a tiny bit feeling pressed by the heaviness f the strict atmosphere surrounding them all?
-I … - lowly began Akira, obviously hesitating, but note a tremble was felt I his voice -... have not been able to work for the past week, because of an accident I had, but I am already fine, so I should start some time tomorrow - quickly pointed out the lawyer, and right then Yutaka did something he had no good clue why he did
-... I would not suggest he did though ...- he stated, holding his fork slightly above his plate of pasta, and darting his eyes from the general to the lawyer, who was now irritatedly glaring at him
-Nobody asked for your opinion ...- quickly replied the lawyer, soon after he turned around to face his food
-Now now … -reprimanded Lady Hayashi -... I do not remember ever having brought up such a rude young man ...- she stated looking rather mortified, after which she turned towards the apprentice, and bowed her head in apology
-Your mother is right Akira that was must certainly uncalled for, especially when it appears the young man was perhaps worrying about your health ...- plainly stated the general, now coldly staring at his second born -... I believe you awe him an apolo- he then began to propose, but was readily interrupted by the apprentice
-It is not needed! - clearly stated Yutaka, quickly glimpsing at Akira, knowing how much more it would have vexed him having to do such a thing as apologizing to a person he probably considered less in worth than the attendant he was being served by at the moment -... and I apologize for having been as rude as to have interrupted you General Hayashi … - he then swiftly added, pointing his gaze at the elder man, and bowing his head in apologize -... but that was really not my place to say ...-
-So you may say Yutaka, but if I am correct in what I heard, meaning that Akira is currently the bearer of a deep knife wound, then I cannot but support what you had just suggested ..- plainly stated Dr. Niikura
-I am fine - blankly and rapidly retorted the blond, placing his napkin on the side of his plate, after having cleaned his mouth
-We shall see about that ...- calmly stated the general, at which nobody seemed to want to add anything more -... for the moment, you still owe an apology to Mr. Uke - he firmly added, staring at the younger blond in all his might. After said order, Yutaka had no idea of how it was possible that an already silent room could turn even more silent, but it had, or at least that was how it felt. In the same way he thought he could feel the blond next to him tense, as he turn around toward him, and lowering his head he began to do as told
-I- lowly began the lawyer, but was abruptly interrupted by Yutaka
-Do not! - he strongly exclaimed, turning himself completely towards a rather bewildered Akira -... you do not want to apologize to me so … you do not have to … it really was not something he needed to apologize for … so do not … and I would not accept such a forced feeling anyway- he lowly concluded looking away towards his plate
-How about you tell father what we have been up to as of recently Ayumi? - suddenly exclaimed Lady Haysahi, just in the moment in which Akira seemed ready to retort something else. Yutaka highly doubted that the lady had spoken up in order to stop an upcoming argument, but he was glad nonetheless, for he really didn't want to argue with the blond; not just yet.
-We … went shopping for bows … most of the times … and - lowly began Kazuhiro, his head lowered the same way his elder siblings had -... and ...- he newly repeated seemingly finding it extremely hard to try and complete his sentence
-Oh do not by so shy honey … - encouraged the mother, at which Kazuhiro quickly glimpsed up at Yutaka, whom was sitting across him, trying his best not to stare in his direction -... we are all going to see it very soon anyway, just say it - the lady kept inciting, turning to tenderly smile at her husband, whom promptly repaid the affectionate gesture with his one delicate smile
-Do tell us please Kazuhiro, do not let your mother beg for answers ...- calmly instructed the general
-We went … searching … for wedding dresses - finally explained the longed haired blond, his voice at a minimum low, his head extremely lowered, while Yutaka was moments away from choking on his water
-Yes! We did! - excitedly proclaimed Lady Hayashi -... and you should have seen her dressed in them, she looked amazing, in fact, it is in my opinion that she could truly wear any dress and make it just as beautiful - confidently concluded the lady
-That is all due to the fact that you are just as beautiful my dear ...- tenderly expressed the general, holding his wife's left hand with his right on the table
-No it is not ...- modestly stated the lady, blushing away from her husband, reaching out for her glass of water, from which she began to drink, while still keeping her hand tightly into the one of her husband
-I must agree with Yoshiki, you beauty is indeed far from normal ...- stated the doctor, placing his glass of wine back on the table
-Oh dear! You too Kaoru do not start! ...- laughingly replied the lady with a pretense glare -... it is not true, and at the moment you are being quite unfair to your wife do you not think so? - she smugly added, turning around to smirk with her beloved husband
-Yes actually, I do believe you are quite right ...- lowly replied the doctor, almost forlornly, as he lowered his gaze to apathetically stare at his plate -... I am being quite unfair indeed ...- he concluded, lightly smiling at his own plate, under Yutaka's attentive gaze, whom was almost hundred percent sure that the doctor wasn't referring to his comment for the lady, but more as to the his being there for Kouyou
-Since we happen to just so be in argument ...- readily continued the general -... how about your wedding Yasuno, have you finalized? - he simply inquired
-Everything is fine ...- widely smiled Yasuno, which instantly gave the apprentice a long chill, for if he hadn't known any better, he would have actually believed him. It was quite incredible, how in that superbly played smile, the blond businessman had successfully been able to brush away over the fact that there had been considerable commotion relating to his wedding. That Lady Ayaka had set to leave for a short period soon after, to “inform her family and friends about the merry decision” she had said immediately after having merely glimpsed at Takeru's almost lifeless body. The young lady was expected to return in two weeks time, which if Yutaka wasn’t mistaken, should have been around the upcoming day. Her absence, and the presence of uncle Kouyou, had been the only reason why Takeru had been able to acquire some sense of tranquility in the past days, given that the situation wasn't yet clear and that Yasuno seemed determined in avoiding the younger for the time being.
-And where is she? I was of the impression that she should have been here with us at the moment, from one of the last letter you had sent me ...- calmly inquired the general
-She had been here in fact, but she decided to leave for a short period, nothing serious, just I think she wanted to personally declare the wedding details to her friends, you know how women are ...- he briefly paused to tenderly smile at his mother, whom feigned scorn -... she will actually be back tomorrow - he then added, calmly drinking his wine
-I see, well then I will be anxiously expecting her return ...- sincerely stated the general
-Is it not wonderful darling? We get to assist at two wedding so close to each other … in fact - she then paused turning to look between Yasuno and Kazuhiro -... you should both do it on the same day! Would that not be great? What do you think Mr. Uke? … - she excitedly questioned, turning to stare at Yutaka, who was feeling so incredibly uncomfortable at the moment, he almost wished had been backed up to wall by Takahiro instead; … almost.
-I think we should perhaps not rush on such valuable decisions at a dinner table Namie ...- tenderly smiled Dr. Niikura, saving the younger from speechlessly smiling at the Lady -... whereas we could maybe hear from Takahiro on his recent affairs? ...- he then proposed turning toward the blonde sitting next to Kazuhiro, whom however acted as if he hadn't heard himself being called in question
-Takahiro? ...- firmly called Akira, who however didn't seem to have meant to be as stern judging by the way Yutaka saw him soften his features when no reply came from the twin
-I am not deaf ...- calmly replied Takahiro, playing with his food in his plate, seemingly avoiding everyone's gaze on purpose -... if I did not say a word, Akira, is because I have nothing to say ...- he continued, this time lifting his gaze toward the silently staring twin -... differently from you, I do not feel the pressing necessity to do as I am told just because I was told … I have a brain thank you - he concluded placing his gaze back on his plate
-Oh do you? ...- coldly remarked the general, at which Takahiro bitterly smirked
-I seriously do not want to hear it old man ...- quickly informed Takahiro, dropping his fork inside his plate
-What do you not want to hear? That you are useless? Or perhaps that you are wasting your life by the second, or that you are complete disgrace to this family … I seriously, I- sternly began the general, under Yutaka's pitying gaze, and quickly interrupted by his wife
-Dear do not, please not at dinner time … - she sincerely pleaded, but for some reason the general seemed not to have heard herd her
-I feel a sense of constant shame in having you around doing nothing, it is overbearing, an eyesore! ...- relentlessly continued the general, and at each single insult Takahiro's face merely remained impassive seemingly taking everything inside and just letting it sit there, while Akira, the apprentice observed, seemed to be frantically searching fro something to say but either he couldn't find it, or couldn't find the courage to say it; which was an odd thought in itself -... I honestly do not know why I keep allowing you to sit at this table and just feast on food you have never worked for - he then vehemently concluded
-Is that what it is? Me eating your food? Well then shall I ease your pain? ...- calmly proposed Takahiro in with all the sarcasm he could muster, dropping his cutlery, his napkins, and standing to his feet
-Where are you going? … - lowly inquired Lady Hayashi -... oh Takahiro, please, sit down, you know your father, he did not truly mean that … - she painfully pleaded reaching for her son's arm
-Taka- gently tried to call Akira, but he was abruptly cut off by his twin
-You stay out of this! - furiously bellowed the standing blond -... do what you have been so diligently doing for this years ... just leave me alone - he quickly added, and roughly pulling himself free from his mother's grip, he proceeded to walk out of the dining room
-Takahiro! - quickly called the lady, her expression extremely hurt, as she turned towards her husband seemingly on the verge of tears -... do not let him go like that! - she requested, but the general seemed currently in his own world, as he apathetically stared a the candle in the middle of the table
-Wait … - loudly whispered Akira, standing up and following his twin in toe, which, sensing the recklessness and potential danger of such a move, made Yutaka stand up as well, and dash out behind the lawyer -... wait Takahiro! Where are you going? … Takshiro … will you wait! - quickly demanded Akira
-Is none of your business ...- merely replied the other, walking undaunted towards the ramp of stairs, action that brought back to Yutaka's mind the peculiar encounter he'd had earlier that morning with Takahiro and Kazamasa, which probably hinted at where the younger twin was heading to. If that were to truly be the case, if Takahiro was truly going to see Kazamasa, then Akira had really no business in that, for Yutaka had no idea what kind of relationship the two had, but nonetheless, even he could understand that much
-Takahiro please wa- Akira called once more, almost pleading, this time clearly intending to run after him, action which however was promptly stopped by Yutaka, whom held the blond from his arm
-If you know what is best for you, you will leave my arm now ...- angrily hissed the blond, making Yutaka have a quick deja-vu of the time they first met, where the apprentice had readily executed the command, left the blond walk his way, and abandoned his attempt to apologize. This time however, he wasn't going to commit the same mistake, this time, he was truly going to do what was best for him; what was best for them both
-No Akira I will not ...- plainly stated the brunette, whom couldn't deny fearing the other's reaction greatly, but currently, his resolution seemed greater than his actual fear
-Why you ...- hissed the lawyer, quickly turning around, while strongly and successfully pulling his arm away, after which he closed his eyes as if trying to maintain his calm, and turned around to proceed in his chase, but was quickly stopped by Yutaka once again, whom sped walked in front of him, lowered his head, stamped both his hands on the blonds chest, and halted him
-You really have no business there Akira! - he shouted out, firmly raising his head and looking into the elder's slightly irritated, and slightly shocked gaze -... and I can assure you, that wherever he is going now, he will be far more happy for the moment …- he stated trying to convince the lawyer, but the blond resumed his attempting to get the apprentice out of the way, which however this time got him in response a harsh push from the apprentice, whom had suddenly lost his temper, because he coudln't take it anymore, this unreasonable hardheadedness, and Yutaka was determined now, he was going to make him listen -... stop I said! - he cried out, completely startling the lawyer -... for once, for just this once, trust me Akira! Let him be and … no ….- he then shook his head as if had said something wrong -... let them be Akira, all of them Akira, all your siblings … let them be - he calmly expressed correcting himself, while tenderly looking up at the still speechlessly bemused blond
-What ...do you mean? ...- hissed the blond in slight hesitation, looking a bit perturbed by the words that Yutaka had just blurted out
-It is enough Akira … - gently repeated Yutaka taking one step forward towards the blond, whom quickly took a step backwards, his features still looking passive and almost untamed, but his eyes weren't lying, not this time. They looked like they had just seen a ghost, all of a sudden, merely those deep orbs, the ones of the wrathful lawyer; seemed unimaginably scared. Of what, Yutaka had no idea, but had all the intention of finding out - you do not need to do this anymore ...- went on Yutaka, taking another step forward, at which the lawyer this time did not move, as he kept still staring some vague point in front of himself
-Do … what? ...- absently replied Akira, who was clearly trying his best to keep a composed demeanor
-Interfering in their lives … - simply replied Yutaka, his gaze unwavering firmly fixed on the lawyer's whom instead kept looking above the apprentice
-You … - forlornly whispered the blond -... you are absolutely in no position whatsoever to be telling me what i need, or do not need to do with my family Mr. Uke, learn your place ..- coldly spoke Akira
-You are mistaken Akira … - calmly retorted Yutaka -... for I believe that is exactly what I was sent to do in this house … I am here because I was asked to help - added the apprentice, this time succeeding at calling fort the blond's glaring gaze
-The one you were asked to help was not me, so if- angrily pointed out the blond, lowering his face to directly speak on the apprentice’s, whom could feel his legs about to give in, but nonetheless his resolution was still quite strong, as he managed to interrupt the elder
-And that … was the mistake … - lowly stated Yutaka, gently looking up at Akira, seas of pity most likely displayed in his eyes, which must have rubbed the blond in many ways considering his following reaction
-Get out of my way ...- threatened the blond, lifting his gaze back beyond Yutaka's head
-I will do that Akira, I will even get out of your life completely if you desire … I promise … - quickly declared the apprentice, whose impulsively blurted out words with their meaning, were beginning to clearly resound in his head and he had absolutely not planned to say that, at all - … but … one condition ...- he then hesitantly proposed, deep in his heart hoping he wouldn't have to regret it, as Akira silently kept still, obviously waiting for the terms of the sudden deal -... you will have to listen to everything I have to say … from beginning to the end - he strongly stated
-Alright I am listening … - quickly complied the blond, while the brunette turned to his side, where he could still glimpse a few heads from the dining-room
-Not here ...- he requested - we can go to my room, in such a way I will begin to pack my things soon after I have done, if you will still wish me too ...- almost whispered the apprentice, slightly lowering his head fearing his prospective of having to suddenly leave the house
-After you ...- lowly instructed the blond, at which the brunette hesitantly nodded, and turning around he began to walk to wards the stairs, which he then climbed, wondering as to whether Akira was truly complying. Once they reached the second floor his suspicions were reveled true
-Do proceed to you room, I will be right bac- tried to state the blond, but was interrupted by Yutaka before he could placed one foot on the ramp towards the third floor, most likely trying to chase after Takahiro, whom, little he knew was actually in the room next to the apprentice’s
-No we are going to talk now ...- demanded Yutaka, pulling a rather astonished blond away from the ramp of stairs
-I am sure that whatever it is you want to talk about can wait Mr. Uke ...- hissed the blond, freeing himself from the younger's grip
-No it cannot! - yelled Yutaka in response, looking positively angry, as the blond merely blinked at him -... it cannot … - added Yutaka, averting gazes and in a quieter voice -... not anymore -
