Something I like doing, that MC barely lets me get away with, is listening to The Moral Maze. ( Read more... )

"...which tends to provoke MC to acts of violence if I don't indulge it quietly

'Strue. The Moral Maze makes me really really cross. I make him wear headphones to listen to it because otherwise I start shouting and then I have to go outside. Why? because it's fucking terrible. I hate it. The people are all horrible and stupid. I don't know which I hate more, the right-wing turbodouches whose ideas are just pure fucking evil to start with, or the people who I'm notionally in agreement with but end up wanting to chuck bricks at while screaming "GET OFF MY SIDE YOU'RE A FUCKING EMBARASSMENT!"

Also "sophomoric" is too kind. "Jerry Springer" would be nearer the mark.

I should probably give it a go. I often have a similar-to-MC reaction to Question Time, so I don't know if I'd get very far.

The Moral Maze is very like Question Time. I favour Any Questions, it's a little more civil.

I had to stop listening to it years ago, because of the Phillips and her vile ideas expressed really stupidly. They were doing the legalising drugs debate several years ago and her level of debate was so poor I remember the other anti-legalising peeps were disputing her because, as they said, she wasn't doing them any favours at all.

Sadly 'Hecklers' is much the same idea, just thankfully without the Phillips.

But occasionally with the Bindel.

It's odd. I like to think I'm similar to Lurid in terms of being a perverse mix of compromiser and contrarian, but I find the Moral Maze difficult to listen. Xoc(taw Ridge) is more into it than I am.

But its great performance art, from the artist known as "Melanie Philips".
