Sea monkeys!

Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted sea monkeys. I would read the advertisements for them in comic books. I've wanted sea monkeys for about 40 years now. Day before yesterday, I bought a sea monkey kit. It's an Ocean-Zoo kit. I purified the water for 24 hours, and put the eggs in last night. A few shrimp hatched last night, but only a ( Read more... )

Be careful not to shine too much direct light on it, or you may start to have a problem with algae growing in the tank. =)

I always wanted Sea Monkeys when I was a kid, but never got them.

My brothers kids had 'em for a while. My SIL used to keep them in the kitchen on windowsill. One day when she was cleaning, she moved them to the top of the stove. I think you know where this is going, right. Cooked brine shrimp.

I had Sea Monkeys as a kid. Until my stupid brother dumped the whole tank into my underwear drawer!

They were just sitting there on the dresser. Only it was sorta a small room and I had to share it with my brother. Since it was a small room, storage space was limited. I had to keep my books stacked up on the dresser and the Sea Monkeys sat on top of the books. When I anted a book, I picked up the Sea Monkeys, moved them, got my book, put the Monkeys back.

When my stupid brother wanted one of MY books, he just tipped the Monkeys over and pulled the book out. Of course the tank slid forward with it. And tipped over. And spilled all over the top of the dresser. Into my underwear drawer (that wasn't quite closed).

After I moved out, my sister took the dresser when she got married. When she cleaned it all out, she found a couple dried up Monkeys in the crack of the drawer.

That's my Sea Monkey story.

The end.

Actually, I WANT some algae in the tank. Not too much, as it will use up oxygen that the shrimp need to survive. But the shrimp will eat algae, and the ecosystem is designed for them to have some algae. In fact, I believe that some starter algae was included with the egg packet, as food for the shrimplings ( ... )
