My oldest son, Daniel is 11. He is a bright, good looking kid (after all I am his Dad). He has two younger brothers and has always shared a room with his 8 year old brother Tanner. It is funny, you spend all week long at work looking forward to the weekend. In my case, once the weekend gets here, I can't wait to get back to work. I have three sons, ages 5 8 and 11. I got some disappointing news today. An old girlfriend (from 10 years ago) lives in Oklahoma (yech) and was going to attend a class where I work for a month. I left work feeling really good. Had a half hard on thinking about what the future may hold. On the way home I travel I-75. I could see traffic slowing down. What a day. It started out glorious. Back in my middle thirties my first son was born. My wife and I lived in San Antonio, but both of our families lived in Cincinnati. Went to my Aunt Ruth's funeral yesterday. She was 67, died of cancer. She found out on Christmas and died 12 days later. It has taken forever to get her in the ground. I am in my mid 40s and instead of going to wedding all the time and catching garters, I now seem to attend funerals and get to be a pall bearer. Makes you feel your mortality. ( Read more... )
