Ainosuke looked up as he heard his door opened.
"Aoi-chan..." He said as he saw his visitor.
Aoi smiled at her. "Shuhei begged me."
---
Seira was very nervous as she walked through the unfamiliar streets.
She couldn't understand this. Sure, she hasn't seen Ainosuke for a while, but she was always comfortable around him. Why was her heart suddenly pounding at the prospect of seeing him?
She really didn't know what to expect. She knew Ainosuke really don't have a reason to keep visiting her, but she had always thought he would always do so.
But then he stopped, and Seira was afraid of the reason, or if there was no reason.
Seira stopped her strides when she felt a hand on her.
Kaori was smiling at her.
"Don't worry, Seira, everything will be fine." She said.
Seira smiled at her, a bit mollified. She was really glad Kaori had offered to come with her.
They took a turn, following the address Sonobe Toru had given Seira.
For a while, they walked quietly.
And then finally, they had reached the apartment.
"We're here." Kaori said.
Seira silently nodded.
Seira looked up the building, her nervousness coming back two-folds this time.
Kaori tapped her on her shoulder, smiling at her. "Come on."
They made their way inside. Ainosuke was living only on the second floor.
When they were right in front of his door, they stopped.
Seira felt as if her chest wanted to burst.
They knocked.
No one answered.
Kaori tried again.
Still, no one answered.
But they heard moving inside.
Finally, Kaori slowly opnened the door, calling out.
"Hello?"
They had heard voices.
And they noticed a pair of extra shoes as they entered. A girl's shoes.
They heard laughters. It seems Ainosuke have a visitor. A girl.
Seira felt her heart plummet.
She held Kaori's hand. "Kaori, I think he's busy. Maybe we should--"
"No." Kaori said firmly. She looked very annoyed.
"Tanaka-san!" She called out. Seira's eyes widen.
Silence.
"Tanaka-san!" Kaori called again.
And then they heard footsteps.
A young woman turned up.
She took one look at her and then gasped. "Kuroda Seira!"
"Aoi-chan?" They heard Ainosuke's voice. "Who is it?"
Aoi smiled brightly and then moved forward to Seira.
"Come on in, please." She told them. "He'll be very pleased."
Both Seira and Kaori was very confused.
They let her lead them inside and into a room.
---
"Aoi?" Ainosuke called as he heard footsteps coming.
But he was bewildered. It was definitely not just a pair of feet. Who has come?
"Aoi--" He trailed off as the door opened.
It was Seira.
He was sure he was gaping.
---
Seira was a bit surprised at being lead to Ainosuke's room unceremoniously.
Not knowing what else to do, Seira bowed and greeted him.
Ainosuke, coming out from shock as well, it seems, bowed back.
And finally, he grinned at her.
"Seira-san, hisashiburi..." He said tenderly.
Seira smiled as well. "Hai, how are you?" She asked.
"Ah, I'll go get tea." Aoi suddenly said, grinning.
"I'll help. We brought cake." Kaori said and the girl smiled brightly at her.
As the two left the room Ainosuke said, "Ah, Seira-san, please sit down. I'm sorry my apartment isn't that much."
Seira shook her head at his comment but smile all the while and took a seat by a stool next his bed.
"Are you well?" She asked. She knew he must be sick. He looked weak and it was as if it was taking a toll, just sitting up.
She could also see some medicine on the bedside table and some half-eaten porridge.
"Ah, hai... just... overexhausted." Ainosuke said.
Seira nodded.
"But other than that, I'm fine. And Aoi-chan is here so I'm getting by." He said.
Seira stopped. She wanted to ask, but she didn't know if it would be rude.
But her curiousity was eating her up.
"Ano, Ainosuke-kun..." Seira started.
"Hm?" He asked, smiling.
"Aoi-san...?" She trailed off.
"Oh, sorry, I wasn't able to introduce her. She's Sonobe Aoi. My friend's sister. She said Shuhei-kun begged her to come and take care of me. He's a worrywart, that guy, but he has work today and so does Toru so that leaves just Aoi-chan..." He said.
"Oh..." Seira sounded. She was both feeling relieved and silly.
"How have you been?" She chose to ask. Feeling much comfortable now.
"I've been good." He said hastily. "How about you Seira-san? We haven't seen each other in a while. How did you know where I live, by the way?" He asked.
"Sonobe-san." She said. "He delivered your gift and I asked him. Thank you so much, by the way. I really love your gift."
Ainosuke nodded, smiling abashly. He looked nervous as well.
"What is it?" She asked.
Ainosuke shook his head. It was curious to see his face flush.
Suddenly, he glimpse towards his desk.
Seira followed his eyes.
"Uhm, Seira-san, is there any reason you visited me?" He asked suddenly.
Seira turned back to him and smiled. "No reason, really. I just wanted to talk." 'I miss you.'
Ainosuke smiled at that. "Hai, it's been a while, ne?" 'I miss you too.'
"I am sorry I haven't been able to visit you. It's been... difficult." he said.
Seira shook her head.
"By the way, where's Rin?" Seira asked. She had grown fond of the dog but she had yet to see her today.
"Oh, she's staying at Shuhei's at the moment..." He trailed off.
Just then, the two girls returned inside the room.
---
They had stayed there for the whole afternoon.
They just chatted, though. It was just like all those times in the hospital garden or in the school.
A while later, Aoi had took off, saying she still have night classes in the uniiversity.
Just after that, Shuhei came.
He was surprised that Seira was there but Seira could also tell that he was relieved. Maybe because Ainosuke wasn't left alone. It seems he was really easily worried.
As it gets dark, Kaori had asked that they go home.
Seira agreed, albeit a bit hesitantly. She wanted to stay for a while more, but she didn't want to intrude too much. Shuhei had walked them to the road.
Overall, Seira's day had been wonderful.
It was good that she heed Chris' words. The visit really helped her sort out her feelings.
Everything is clear now.
---
Shuhei went straight back to Ainosuke's room.
Ainosuke was lying down on his bed. He looks exhausted.
Ainosuke smiled when he noticed him.
"Shuhei-kun," He called, "Can you get me my sketchpad? It's on my desk."
Shuhei frowned a bit. "You should rest." He said.
"In a bit." Ainosuke said. "I just want to see her again."
Shuhei silently nodded and moved towards Ainosuke's desk.
He took the sketchpad and pass it to Ainosuke.
Ainosuke smiled and opened it.
Every pages of the sketchpad was of Ainosuke's sketch of Kuroda Seira.
