I recently started the Christening gown project that I mentioned before. This involved casting on 480 stitches....which is more than anything I've cast on before. Last night, we apparently aggravated (or caused) a blockage in our sewer line. All I did was a few loads of laundry. I'm sure that wasn't the cause. But this morning, the puddle of water in the basement was more pond-like than puddle like. Luckily, most of the boxes are plastic, so I don't think much will be ruined. This weekend, I finished up (for the most part) the painting of the entry hall and dining room, and scrubbed all the paint off the floors.  I've got a few minor touch-ups to do, and I need to dust the chandelier (while I have the table out from under it) and pie safe.  I'm so glad that's done!  Now we just have to wait for our dining room furniture ( Read more... )

I just got my stuff back from the Virginia State Fair. I won 2 blue (first place) ribbons!!!!! One was for Gordie's stocking, which one a Grand Prize in the Albemarle County Fair. And one for the Celtic Cross (cross stitch) I made my Mom, which won 2nd place in the County Fair. :) I also got $5 for each blue ribbon ( Read more... )

I did get most of the trim and doors painted in the basement this weekend. The only room I didn't do was the work-out room. I would have run out of both tape and paint if I had included that. I've recently hit the nesting phase of my pregnancy. I've had people tell me it's too early, but clearly it's not for me. I've been reorganizing and cleaning out all of the closets at home. I finally finished G's stocking, and entered it and 2 other pieces of my handiwork in the County Fair. I was really hoping that the stocking would win big, and it did! I finished last night at 10pm. It took enormous will-power to clean the house yesterday for dinner with Mom with the half-read book sitting there, staring at me. But I managed to clean and read. Yay!
