It was. indeed, terrifying there for a bit. I had never had an out-of-boat experience with any of the times I have ever been on the water, and this goes all the way back to my 8 years of Scouting as a kid when I would do canoeing and rafting in various places in the US.
I was on one of those tour rafts on the Ocoee one time when our guide decided to *intentionally* flip all his riders out. I still have a pair of glasses on the bottom of that river somewhere.
I lost a pair of Rx sunglasses during a Hotlanta Raft Race back in the early 1990's so I always have one of those nerdy glass straps to hold my glasses on, and I now only go down with a "retired" pair of Rx glasses so in the event I lose them, it won't be so traumatic.
