Perpetually indecisive
I've started working on my corset, so currently in the re-fitting and patterning stage. I made up a new paper pattern based on my lavender corset, with a lowered waist, slightly smaller bust and hips, slightly larger waist, and shorter in length. The next stage is doing a mock-up. Train Ride!
I went on a train ride in costume with friends over a week ago and have just now uploaded the pictures. The weather was pretty terrible that day, very windy and rainy. I had perfect, super curly bangs when I started, but they disappeared quickly because of the weather. Even better
Turns out that the New Look pattern that I want is available on the Simplicity website as a printable pattern. So I don't need to worry about trying to find it in the States and can get started on making this dress earlier. I want it for a wedding I am attending on July 1st ( Read more... ) -
Question for my American friends
Does JoAnn Fabrics stock New Look patterns? I'm going to be stateside for a couple of days at the end of the month and there's a particular pattern that I want to pick up. Our Canadian chain, Fabricland, no longer carries Simplicity products. -

Darn!
The wool I ordered is out of stock for the amount I want and won't be re-stocked until the fall. So I guess that project will be on hold for a while. It would also be productive if I actually worked on those baby quilts instead of researching cage crinolines. (Trying to figure out how I want to make mine later this summer.) -
New old dress
Went to an event today with living history folks. It was a fundraiser for the Manitoba Museum/trade show for local businesses. We were dressed c.1800-1860. I finished up my sleeves yesterday afternoon, so for once in a long time I wasn't up late sewing! I took some pictures when I got back. New sleeve
I drafted up a new sleeve with a much shallower sleevehead. And it fits so much better! There isn't any more pulling and I can move my arm around, both forward and up!
