I confess

my friends page is semi-dormant and I wish it wasn't. I've been a crummy blogger myself. Sometimes I disappear for months down my own rabbit-holes of exhaustion, surliness and baby breeding/nursing/poop detail. And I also run up against blog-ennui of feeling like it's pointless to type and broadcast when the diary will do for navel-gazing. ( Read more... )

yeah, i'm going to test the waters. I think I would be a better user of my own journal if it didn't sometimes feel like a wasteland, present company excepted, of course.

LJ is pretty much the only site on the Internet (besides maybe eBay and Hotmail, which I never use anymore) that I can say I've been on since 1999, a veritable eon in the Internet age. There's just something about it that makes it still my favorite social media site. Facebook is fine for what it is, but it certainly favors breadth over depth, and it offers no history. Twitter I've never found a use for, brevity not being my strong suit. LJ, though, there's just a different sort of interaction here, and the ability to write for ourselves with the added benefit of others chiming in--and of course getting to know others through what they choose to share here.

Anyway, babbling--just my way of saying hello and that I definitely feel like I'm in the same boat. :)

I think I've only been here a couple years, and I gather it had a more glorious heyday before I got here. I like being able to ramble a bit myself. I'm glad I've chosen to reach out, its actually exciting, this prospect of reaching out again. My daily life feels a little confined, raising young uns, so this is fun time.

My tendency to journal varies according to whatever it is I feel like I have to talk about. I often go through extended periods where I don't feel like I have anything to talk about, but don't really see myself ever completely abandoning LJ.

yeah I don't feel like cluttering the world with my inconsequential barf just to maintain a footprint. I keep hoping to use my brain again when I write, but I'm quite all here yet.
