Sorry to say I had to make a difficult decision this afternoon. The vet hospital called and clearly Amber wasn't going to make it through to the next tests. Heads have been scratched aplenty at the RVC today and they had no idea what was wrong with Amber beyond some very long words for the symptoms, but no diagnoses. We've called in the big guns. Got a referral to the Royal Veterinary College for Amber today. Drove up to and around the M25 and dropped off Amber ( Read more... )

Back to the vet tomorrow. We have an evening appointment but going to try and bring that forward.

Picked her up, with a ton of new meds. She's flopped on her blanket, she's got two more shaved bits, one where the transfusion went in and another with a fentanyl patch. Good to have her home but she looks so beaten-up.

She's due to go back on Wednesday for another blood test.

Amber spent the last three days at the vet. She's had two transfusions, been on a drip and they may have a diagnosis. Lupus has been mentioned and they have sent off a blood sample for testing. As I understand it lupus is pretty rare so I have my doubts. But once you have eliminated the most likely... and all that.
