Lexaeus couldn't agree more on how beautiful plants are. He also couldn't agree how much more annoying they can be when they are the same size as him if not bigger. The trees were tall, the bushes are thick... he could've saved some time if those weren't in the way. He walked around on the clearer path, maintaining a visible view of the cave ahead of him.

You should stop thinking so much and just look inside. Lexeaus told himself with a mental slap and stepped in.
You're not hearing shit this time. That's actually him.
Axel opened his eyes and looked up, staring at Lexaeus for several moments. He took an irrational minute to think about how run down he must've looked at that point, then realized that the brunette probably wouldn't care. What mattered was that he wasn't going to die alone.
"Yeah. Hey, big guy," the redhead mumbled, using the cave wall to pull himself to his feet. He smiled as brightly as he could manage, attempting to brush off the fatigue that he had been living with for days. "You have no idea how much I've missed you. It's crazy, really."
"You and I both." Lexaeus replied with a smile as he walked towards him. He felt sore from all the walking and avoiding (which also meant running) the dinosaurs that he almost encountered. He actually ran into one that explained the scratches along his torn shirt, but he decided not to bring that up. If he asks anything about it, just tell him you fell off a tree. A very tall tree.
He gave Axel a hug before pulling away, arms still around his hips. "You don't look very well. Here," he pulled out a small bottle of water about the size of a grenade from his pocket, "drink some."
Axel took it, but, instead of drinking some, rested his head on Lexaeus' shoulder. He inhaled and exhaled heavily, overcoming the dizzy spell that had come from just standing up. "Just give me a minute," he whispered hoarsely, still smiling despite the fact that he was filthy and tired and delirious.
His smile faded, however, when he felt torn cloth and skin beneath his fingers. Slowly he lifted his head and pulled his hand back from where it'd been resting on the brunette's chest, frowning. "What happened to you?"
"It's not bleeding anymore- I mean, or anything." Lexaeus said quickly. Idiot.
He made a gesture for Axel to drink before speaking again, "Um... I feel off a tree? And... landed on rocks? Oh, if you meant what I was doing on the tree... um, I tried looking for you and..."
Note to self: Learn to lie better.
He sighed and waved his hand to dismiss what he just said. "Sorry, forget that. On my way here, I got attacked by a dinosaur with sharp claws but I managed to get away safely... more or less."
